Anybody notice the 3rd round knockdown was identical to a move from the 1st fight?

Slight differences I notice. From the 4th fight, Manny is leaning back a little bit more, a little more off balance. Probably contributed to him going over. JMM seemed to be reaching a little more in the one from the 1st fight too, didn't look to have the same pop on it.

 

Marquez's arm is only slightly more extended in the shot from the first fight, and Pac's positioning is only slightly different when comparing the two...it looks like JMM caught him closer to the temple in the fourth fight....that would be more of a factor than the body positioning, imo, but all in all, I think the knockdown was a result of deterioration on Pac's part, plain and simple. If any punch Marquez ever landed (aside from the ko) should have dropped Pac, it's this one...

Hard left hook shot, he would definetly had drop him had he hit him that hard in that position with a right hand i think.

When i say that same position i mean as in Pac in the air like that.

 

I agree with this. Good shot though.

 

Obviously the fact that Marquez was a legit, completely shredded 143 pounds and spend more than a year doing strength and conditioning to work on his power couldn't possibly explain the discrepancies. I mean I definitely expect a 125 pound man who trains by drinking **** to punch as hard as a 143 pound man who has spent a year using modern training techniques to improve his explosive power.

The only clear explanation here is that Pacquiao has deteriorated, after all there's no way Marquez could have the power to drop him when landing a well disguised bomb of a right hand right to Pacquiao's temple while Pac is trying to back up with his legs crossed.

 

Look at Pac's face in the first gif. For a moment after he is hit his expression takes on that strange sort of blankness that you see when guys get seriously stunned, hurt, or even knocked out. I know some people think the knockdown may have mainly been due to his balance at the time, but I'm not sure -- that look on his face makes it seem like it had quite a big impact.

 

That and the shot in fight 4 was closer to the temple than the shot in fight one which was about at the cheek.

 

I also think Marquez stepped with Pacquiao in the 4th fight so that the shot would land solid. Not that it didnt land solid in the first fight, but Marquez was a bit closer in the 4th fight

 

You just can't continue to be the same fighter, doing the same **** when facing one of the most intelligent fighters in the sport. Eventually he will figure you out!!!

 

Pac clearly sees that punch coming in the earlier fight and even braces for impact. It is coming from directly in front of him.

He did not see the punch this time, eating it from an angle and exacerbating the effect by turning his head away from it, moving the oncoming punch out of his peripheral field of vision.

Not the same. :nono

 

Younger man got out of the way a little better. Pac's head got so much bigger. Hard not to notice.
