Anybody ordering the JCC Jr. PPV instead of watching Williams-Quintana?

Is Bob Arum a ****ing idiot? This is whats killing boxing, no name hype jobs being on a PPV match. JJC Jr. isn't even one of the top welterweights or junior welterweights, the guy f***ing sucks. How does a fighter who barley has any skills being shown on PPV? No one is not going to order this, hell I doubt anyone knows that this will be on PPV.

This an Arum's take on the situation from a BT interview this past December.

BA: "I think 07 was a good year for everybody in boxing. I think 08 should be a very, very good year. I think if I had my druthers there would be more networks doing boxing on the level of HBO and Showtime so we'd have fewer PPV shows. I'm not happy with having to put Chavez Jr on PPV everytime he's on because even though we do relatively well it's a very small audience. What other option do I have though? HBO has a certain number of spots and after you take the Gary Shaw spots away from Showtime there's next to nothing, so how can you give guys fights and compensate them unless you do it on PPV? The fights don't belong on PPV and I'm the first to admit it, but what are you going to do? We're in a real box without an ABC, CBS or ESPN paying real money. We put guys on PPV shows that shouldn't be PPV shows because it's the only way to do it."

My response to that? Thats great Bob, so why put something that doesnt belong on PPV on the same time as a Real WW Championship fight? Wont that affect the subsequent numbers and compensation?

    :huh

I hear what Arum's saying and PPV shouldnt have to be always a $35-$70 proposition. The Jr. fight should be maybeworth $15- $20 bucks a pop, WITH AN UNDERCARD. Do it on a TUESDAY or THURSDAY evening when there's basically **** ON TV. Do a little promotion and get the word out ahead of time, nd you might do even better financially.

No one is not going to order it, just like the Rahman vs Maskaev matchup, it will do horribly low, even worse.

The main event with JCC Jr. is about an hour or so after the Williams-Quintana fight is done, so there will probably be enough buys to pay the bills.

I wouldnt order HBO to see that *** williams fight, I wouldnt order this next Chavez Jr. fight either. I would order Chavez Jr. fight only if he fought Malignaggi or something of that rank

I am sure some Mexicans here will buy just because of who he is and the connection to his father, the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez. I don't think Arum is banking on the general public or even regular boxing fans to pony up money for this fight, he is banking on Mexicans buying it to support the son of the legend.

Yeah you're right, but that doesnt equal making as much money:nono

Then again, he's probably just trying hard to keep him under wraps from the general public, so the he isnt exposed as a joke to the masses YET. that way they can sell him in whatever event arum has planned.

Mexicans will love him because he's Chavez's son and Mexicans are among the most loyal fans overall when it comes to their fighters:good

So I'm not the only one who has one of those.

And I don't add them either. And hell, I add every Telefutura, ESPN and VS fight (even FSN when applicable)!

Ha! Me too. The Telefutura fights always are great for the commercials, if nothing else. I don't know what's going on in those soap operas, but it must be some serious ****.

I've actually caught the first twenty minutes of "[SIZE=-1]Asi Es La Vida" after Solo Boxeo on a couple of occasions, and after realizing how simultaneously aroused and bewildered I am by what's going on, always feel I have to change the channel else be trapped in a whorl of quasi-erotic insanity.
