Didn't Golden Boy take him from Top Rank? If so Arum must be laughing his arse off right now.

 

Yup There was a big legal mess with Ortiz filing for bankruptcy thus nullifying his contract with Top Rank. Golden Boy snatched him up and Arum was really pissed.

Probably not so pissed tonight.

i love it when these well laid out 5 year plans blow up in the promoters faces. hoya had been raving about ortiz in media, anointing him as the future of boxing and blowing a ton of hot air up his ass. too bad maidana wasn't playing along with golden boy.

 

I love how you all focus on the quitting, but he was going to be KO'd if the fight started back up.. that's a fact.

I don't think that they were mad at him for quitting. They were mad at him for fighting such a stupid fight. YOu don't go in against such a dangerous puncher with no jab and no defense. He ignored his corners advice (by his own admission) and lost a fight that he should have won.

 

I took it the same way.

 

Anyone have any pics of Oscar's reaction?? I think i missed it. I did see Mosley in there but it sounded like he was giving him advice on why and what he was doing wrong.

 

IDK but that was weird to watch from Mosley's and DLH's lecture's, to Ortiz remark's after the fight i was like WTF is going on..

 

Quitting on your stool when you're an old superstar already contemplating retirement and quitting on your stool when you're an up and coming nobody with millions of dollars thrown at you in investments, the media's attention, and possible talk of a reality show being filmed about you are two different things.
