K-1 is really starting to suck. I don't know how they are structured. I guess Badr Hardi is the champion, but is fighting big Korean Choi Hong Man. I thought Semi Schilt was last years champion, but I never saw him lose. Schilt fought and lost to Peter Aerts. I wish they could be a little more structed and have the best fighters fight each other. I was once a big K-1 fan, but I keep kreeping over the UFC since it's basically the cream of the MMA crop. I still think pride was the best, though.
They structure it a bit like a lottery. Each fighter gets a number, when there number is pulled they go pick a place in the bracket, then the next guy whos number gets pulled picks a place, that can either mean choosing to fight the first guy, or not. And so on and so on.
Well at least Schilt's dominance has ended. There will be a new GP champ this year. I'm hoping for Aerts.
it's not over yet...Trust me , he'll be back...and he'll reign future grand prix finals for sure. Peter Aerts did a great job though. But at the same time , it wasn't the blueprint for defeating Schilt... The reason why Schilt is dominant (well , apart from his huge ****ing size) is because he quickly learns from his mistakes. Next time Aerts will try the same gameplan...he'll find something else to beat him. Schilt's record speaks volumes. First time he had to fight Peter Aerts , he lost by ud and had to change his modus operandi (he's still boring though)...and it worked. He defeated Aerts twice after that... his latest fight was his fourth confrontation. (obviously Aerts is also getting used to Schilt's style)...If there's a 5th confrontation..aerts' gameplan won't work. Schilt is like a cancer for K1. On one hand...it's rare to see a huge fighter who knows how to fight & who uses solid gameplans...but on the other...he's incredibly ****ing boring. (even when he brutally kos his opponents)
I don't like the way they pick fights. Schilts is boring, but you have to admit, he is dominant. I would like to see Schilt fight Hardi. I doubt that would be a boring fight. Badr is always aggressive, so Semi will have to fight.
**** the heavyweight.....did anyone watch masato and kyshenko??? woooooohooooo!!!!!!! ****ing animals....the k-1 MAX is the highest standard of fighting on the planet no doubt!!!!
Yes doubt. Lumpinee and Rajadamnern stadiums have the better actual Muay Thai fighters. K1 has watered down rules, but much better promotion and accesibility. A few compete in both, but K1 hinders Thai guys as much as possible to prevent complete domination. There are exceptions of course JWP, Souwer, Baukuw and a few others are legit full rules MT, but K1 does not let them fight true Muay Thai. And thats just the standard in 1 form of fighting, K1 max is most certainly not the best of all fighting. Most corrupt? Probably. Best? No.
