i was reading today that frank maloney thinks gary cornish will be ready for the big time in two years.
how good is he now? how good do you guy's think he can be? does he have a big punch?
a good scottish heavyweight is very rare, he sounds interesting but i heard the same about a guy called ian millarvie. what happened to him?

Nope. But i suggest his ring name should be 'the pasty'.

HH knows the inside scoop on him but hes decent, i saw his last fight but one(in inverness) against rasani. He seemed to make it harder than he had to, hes very tall but didnt seem to jab enough IMO.

But hes still very young for a HW and learning(only had about 12 Amateur fights)

I saw his first bout with Rasani, for a guy in his second pro fight, with barely an amaeur career behind him, he looked decent. He didnt realy seem to fight his size, and I think he may just fall short of British title level but theres plenty of time to prove me wrong :)

Cornish is developing nicely. There are obviously elements of his methodology that require sharpening and he is aware. He grafts like no other in his efforts to improve. Watch this space. He's probably fighting as I type this in Aberdeen on the Lee Macallister under card.

Cornish is probably the best prospect that hasn't been shown on TV yet.
As for Ian Millarvie, he is now based in New York and was set to be making a comeback next month, but that's been cancelled for some reason.

They showed Cornish on Sky Sports 1 HD, rounds 2-4. McGuigan and Alex Arthur the studio pundits were impressed.

Cn only judge him on what I saw last night. Looks not bad for a heavyweight. Looks to have quite a good variety of punches, looks to have a bit of power in his right and decent speed for a big man. Quite mobile.
His defence is pretty shaky thought and he carries his hands pretty low at times. Sloppy.

Heard very good things about him from my man HH, the HW's in Britain know he's a danger to them in year or so time.

I heard that Pele Reid had some beef with him, which resulted in Pele Reid sparking Gary Cornish out.

To be fair to Gary hes only fought wee fat guys from abroad typical type opponents, once hes fought a half decent opponent who punches back regularly will be the time to judge him.But good luck to him.
