Anybody Think Team Pacquiao Choosing Cotto Was Just Flat Out Stupid?

No . . . Cotto will be a good fight for the fans.

 

On a business perspective. It's more stupid to wait for the result of the september fight of JMM/Floyd winner. Considering the winner would ask for a few months (3 at average) of rest after a long negotiation (back and forth contract). Pac camp (Arum) will be lucky to make the fight at February 2010, Pacquiao's last fight was May 2 2009.

 

No. Like Roach and Arum said before, they would not put Manny in a fight that they think he would not have a chance to win or put Manny in a dangerous fight. They said no way against guys like Margarito a year ago. Plus, this is a win-win for Arum as both fighters are under Top Rank. More $$$$$$ for uncle Bob. Big Puerto Rican and Filipino following means big PPV sales, something Mosley sadly cannot compete with. Other than Mayweather, who wasn't available, it was the most logical next fight that fans would be interested in.

 

So, this fight is not dangerous for Pac.

but it's a great fan/legacy fight. pac does'nt have to fight cotto, but is doing so anyway.

 

atsch That's not my opinion if you read the post a little more carefully. That is Roach, Pac and Arum's determination after watching the Cotto-Clottey fight. I'm a Pac fan, not a nuthugger. Boxing is a dangerous sport period.

 

I voted "there for the taking" but i don't really think it will be an easy fight. I do think Manny has a great style to give Cotto hell though, and that it is a very good matchup for Manny.
