[FONT=Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular] "Look, boxing is a business and so fighters didn't want to fight Antonio because they knew Antonio was a tough, tough guy to fight," said the veteran promoter. "Mayweather knew that; Oscar De La Hoya's people have told me that Margarito beats Cotto, they weren't interested in fighting Margarito because he was a Mexican. I don't know, they didn't want to fight him. However, something changed; this fight did tremendous numbers on pay-per-view and I would say a great number of the people that bought the fight were Mexican, Mexican-American and therefore the people that wouldn't fight Antonio before now would be inclined to fight him because the money rewards would be so much greater.

Arum said this at the post-fight press conference. No way he could know about the numbers, it takes a few days to count the numbers.

I'd say 250k. 300k would be very nice. But still, this should've been on free HBO or free TV... this is the kind of find you can make new fans with... but the potential fans won't buy it if it's 50, so as always, the hardcore and Mexican-American/Ruerto Rican fan base bought it... what a shame...

My guess is not that well, 200,00 I bet. I think that it could have been promoted alittle bit better, but really it dont matter how well a fight is promoted if few know who the fuk is fighting.

I dont want to say it too loud but there were over 12,000 viewers on the web livestream were I watched the fight for FREE, I would beat that most of the diehard boxing fans did the same and that will cost them some modest numbers.

What sucks is 200,000 people would buy a PPV of Oscar jacking off:verysad

I honestly think it made 400k if not 350k minimum. Can't see how boxing fans who enjoy action packed battles(the majority) won't order this. This fight also did great for Margarito's future PPV fights.

i hope it's more that 300k. if it's lower then that's very sad because i don;t see any fight in boxing better than that one.

No idea, but bear in mind Arum has proven to be a little...over-optimistic on how well his fights have sold in the past.

Hope it's a good number, it deserves to be, but a grain of salt is needed with Arum's comments.
