In a way, yes. And in a way, no. My opinion of his chin, heart, fighting mentality all increased. My opinion of his skillset/ability/effectiveness dipped a bit, because I expected him to dazzle and destroy Cotto, and he wasn't able to do so. I enjoyed the fight very much and I think the right man won, but I didn't think Mayweather looked particularly special, ability-wise. He was better than Cotto, but nowhere near as peerless as his fans make out.
He let his hands go. This perception that he's too defensive has softened up a lil bit...although that may be because of circumstance rather than choice.
My opinion of him actually decreased. When I was watching him come up in the lighter weights, he was untouchable. Last weekend I saw his face bloody and more than a few rounds lost. Both of those were unthinkable just a few years ago. Obviously, the guy is slowing down.
