I had it a clear Groves victory. I give De Gale rd 1 and 9 clearly, but no way no earth did he win more than 3 more rds. George clearly won rds 2, 3, 4, 7, 10.

Good result. De Gale will improve from being taken down a peg or two.

I decided to put a bet on Groves today to win. Was going to bet Groves by KO, then found it was better odds for Groves on points, so just bet on Groves to win at 11/4.
I thought initially DeGale, but thought this morn that George has better footwork and DeGale seems to plant his feet to throw fast combinations. I thought Groves would box on the outside and decided to bet on George.
I thought if the Anderson and Smith fights hadnt have happend respectively, I would have clearly picked for George. It wasnt a confident bet, but a gut feeling that Groves would box on the outside.

Before the result was announced DeGales trainer said something to DeGale and told DeGale to keep quiet. It looked like they thought they had confirmation of a win???

i had degale winning by a point purely because he did damage when he decided to throw. i dont understand why he didnt engage and get inside more everytime he did he was getting the better of the exchanges. Agree tho i think with his personality losing his 0 might be a good thing like khan.

Definately disagree, I had Degale by 2 rounds, a draw at the most as a lot of the rounds could have gone either way or a draw, but I didn't see it in Groves' favour never troubled Degale once, whereas Degale troubled Groves a couple of times and hit Groves with the better shots.

I had it DeGale 7-5 but I wouldn't cause a fuss any way it went really.

degale won the fight to me.

Groves was on the backfoot firing 10 jabs a round.

At no point was degale hurt, under pressure or not in control of the fight - groves was.

Given that degale did all the pressuring, he deserved at the very least a draw out of that fight,

Groves started well and implemented Booth's gameplan for a while but DeGale never lost his cool for a second. DeGale sussed out a gameplan and came on strong. By the last two rounds Groves was just hanging in there, fighting on heart.

    DeGale won.

It wasn't effective though, he got outlanded and made to look well... amateurish, Great gameplan from Smith. :happy:happy:happy

You don't win rounds just by walking forward. I thought you could make an argument for either guy but my card had Groves a point up at the end.

  11. Fair play to Groves for the victory......... I just wish we didn’t have so many tards in one sub forum.

I thought DeGale won by a couple of rounds, at the worst a draw would have been a fair result. As said by others, more fool him for not opening up more throughout the fight as when he did he was far superior and could have turned it into a comfortable victory

I had Groves by one round but couldn't argue either way.

Groves throw more shots & landed more shots. Stats back up Groves.
