I agree Froch-Dirrel and Abrahams-Talyor isn't a bad PPV but I think a lot of people (myself included) were hoping that the Super 6 would be picked up in its entirety by a major channel and be given the publicity it deserves. Instead it looks like the Froch fights are stuck away on some new channel that no one has heard of and theres no mention of the other fights in the series being shown at all!!
HBO have cut down significantly on their PPVs this year. Only Pacquiao/Hatton, Mayweather/Marquez and coming up Cotto/Pacquiao so that's three for the whole year. Showtime are showing the super six in the US, so that's subscription-based. In Germany I believe ARD will be showing the Sauerland fights, so that's network tv, not sure if the other fights are getting shown. In Denmark, Kessler's fights will be on PPV. Kessler is huge in Denmark, the Perdomo fight was on network tv and got 72% of the viewing audience . Not sure whether the other fights are shown.
Yanks have got Showtime, Canadians have got Super Channel and Germany I think the boxing is on terrestrial on ARD or ZDF. The only thing in the back of my mind is this Primetime channel going to show the option's of HBO presentations and American PPV's that Brit's will be interested in?
It seems kind of ****ed up that this fight is struggling to sell out the relatively small Notingham Arena but its also PPV? Most fights/ cards are PPV because they feature popular fighters, this one is PPV purely because none of the TV companies think its worth paying for!!
I think Fat Mick stole this idea from Bob Arum. Seem to remember he stuck Pavlik/Lockett, Pavlik/Rubio and Cotto/Jennings on DIY PPVs after HBO turned the fights down...
I'm on Virgin so it's prob a nonstarter for me anyway but I'd probably pay it if I could get it. Mind you these 2am starts kill me. Not getting any younger.
13 quid for 6 hours of boxing and 2 brilliant 50/50 genuine world class fights represents good value if you ask me.Those that were hoping for a primetime slot on terrestrial television are deluded fools, pay per view or espn were the only way this was ever going to work.Have a good night squinting at your laptops ladies lol.
True, but you still get those other PPV's on different stations like Latin Fury etc. and even RJJ vs Lacy was PPV.
"6 hours of boxing"? Have you seen the Nottingham undercard? You know you can connect laptops to TVs these days? People who only use the shitty free streams have no idea whats out there if you know where to look and are willing to pay (literally) a couple of quid.
Bloody shame really because I think Froch should be much more high profile Every passing fight that isn't screened just diminishes his chance of ever going mainstream If he'd been promoted well he'd be selling out that arena easily and would be snaffled up for TV
The promotion of this tourament has been pathetic... I don't even know, where i can watch this.. And i don't have a ****ing clue...whats goin on lids... Goes to show...that no one really gives a **** about Carl Froch. The country is not even behind him..!
Only in the UK. The promotion in the US, Germany and Denmark has been awesome. Hmm, now who is responsible for the UK promotion....? :think
