I have a great seat for the Cotto/Clottey fight at MSG. I've brought cameras to fights in Vegas, but those were just little pocket cameras. I now have a Nikon DSLR that I'd like to bring in, but I'm not sure if it's gonna be allowed or not. I have a good, fast lense to use that isn't a zoom lense, and I know they don't allow zoom lenses, but I'm wondering if they'll see a DSLR camera and automatically disallow it. I'm taking the train in, so I won't have a car to bring it to in case they don't allow it. I'd LOVE to bring it though, but not sure if it's gonna pass security.. Anyone brought a camera to an MSG boxing event?
I'd call ahead, but I don't think there'd be a serious problem unless you get nervous and force the issue. MonoSodium Glutamate's not the kind of place where they make a big honking deal and scare everyone over something harmless.
I've been trying to google it, but I'm getting mixed answers all over. Some say no to DSLR cameras, some are saying they don't care as long as it's not a zoom or a video camera. I think I'll call ahead, but even then - who knows if the person I talk to will feel the same way as some random gate guard? Maybe I should just put into the smallest camera case I can find and hope it doesn't look too conspicuous and just go for it.. then again, it would suck if they don't let me in with it.
You CAN try to sneak it in..but I will warn you, the most dickish security in the world is New York security. If there's something they can **** with you over, they will.
