What are your thoughts on what he said? Particularly on the topic of:

    1. Being "semi-retired" and what that means.

    2. What Miguel Cotto must do to validate Mayweather getting into the ring with him.

Guess not too many people then!

    1. Floyd saying semi retired means to him that he fights once a year or whenever he wants to.

    2. Mayweather says that in order to fight Cotto, Miguel must first get a larger fan base in order to draw to draw more fans and make more money. Floyd says that Hatton had a huge following in England which accounted for a lot of money brought to the table in that fight and that Oscar of course has all the Mexican fans behind him so each firgher warranted a bout with Mayweather.

    1) He only wants big event type fights. He plans on pulling an ODLH and a Ricardo Lopez at the end of his career.

2)Miquel Cotto must get a larger fan base and prove he is a hit in PPV. Clean up the division by beating winner of Margarito-Cintron and force Mayweather to fight him.Hatton and ODLH are international stars. Cotto is the number one contender but floyd can make more money

I saw it, and I wasn't very intrigued by what he had to say.

And why was some lady filling in for Jim Rome?

yeah, that lady sucks...i turn the channel when I see her hosting. I respect that he at least tells people he's semi-retired. Dont complain about him not fighting a lot, he's made it clear that that's what he's going to do.

All the **** he said on Mike and Mike about wrestling was bull****, but hey, he's got to hype it up. Hes getting paid too much not to

Rome has been out this week and too bad too. He would have pressed for better answers than Floyd gave.

    1. I understand a guy wanting to make as much money as possible and being a big draw like Ali and Leonard and Mayweather but boxing is still a business. When did the fighters begin telling the commission who and when they will fight?

    2. Miguel Cotto has a huge fan base. He can sell out MSG. How would Floyd come to the conclusion that "okay, he seems to have enough people following him now so I will fight him"? The only numbers Cotto needs to bring to the ring is 31-0 and being the number 1 threat in the division. Enough people of EVERY race and background want to see this fight happen so you don't need more people behind Cotto. Floyd is a great fighter but it seems he is losing his cajones in public interviews when Miguel Cotto is brought up. Just make the fight and answer the questions in the ring.

Maaaaannn, that is BS! C'mon, a fighter first has to prove how many people he can get to fly over and spend money on tickets before he can arrange a fight? Mayweather already HAS a lot of money from boxing! Even if Cotto had NO Puerto Rican fans fly over to the U.S. the PURE BOXING FANS interested in this fight alone would sell the damn thing out. That plus the PPV around the world including PR. Moreso than a rematch with Oscar or the tiny (talk about get your weight up) Hatton. This isn't about how many people you can get to come and cheer for you, it is about taking on the best challenger in the division. Floyd is talented as hell but he is very disappointing to true boxing fans who want to see the BEST fight the BEST. Selling out for the money alone doesn't enhance reputation, pride in your abilities and your legacy. It just raises more questions about the real reason you keep avoiding the challenge. :-(

This fight needs to happen! And If Mayweather has any pride he will truly respond to the guantlet that Cotto has thrown down.

There should be NO concern what so ever that this fight won't sell a lot of PPVs and tickets. Two undefeated welters in their prime, fighting for the real 147 title.

I know this much if anyone had laid down the challenge to Mayweather that Cotto did to Hagler, Hearns, Ali, Marciano, or any of the other legendary fighters of the past; the contracts would be signed already and the fight would be taking place!!!!

Yeah man Hatton can attract 100k fans in a soccer stadium ...

He convinced all of the UK that he had the style to beat Mayweather and FLoyd came over there talking so much **** and it further convinced the UK fans that Hatton can do it and will shut him up.

Cotto isn't Tito and can't bring many fans to Vegas ... He's not reguarded in the same light as the true PR star Tito.

Pure boxing fans aren't going to come off 1500 bucks per ticket to sit ring side.

You see how much they're charging for the bernard v calzaghe fight - 2500 bucks ringside.

Cotto can do that ... he's not carrying PR on his back like Tito was ... Tito alway said viva PR everytime and even might shed a tear for his fans.

Damn right Dave! This isn't American Idol, it's supposed to be world class fighters! Forget the popularity contest and PROVE who is best!
