Anyone confident in Mikey Garcia's chances with Spence?

Garcia really believes that he has what it takes to beat Spence. Does he see a weakness in Spence that we all don't know of?

Is anyone actually confident with his chances of winning against Spence? We've seen this happen before and anything can happen in boxing. Garcia is an elite fighter with great skills who is coming up against a bigger, more powerful guy with skills as well. I don't like Mikey's chances but I won't be surprised if he actually manages to pull it off.

 

Not really but size aside has Spence ever been in with a better operator than Mikey?

 

Not particularly, no. Spence is a nasty styles matchup for anyone smaller moving up in weight

 

Mikey has never lost as a pro, he has a winners mentality. Also, from a business point of view he really has nothing to lose, if he wins great, if he doesn't Spence was too big and he just goes back down.

Mikey is daring to be great and we have to respect him for that. I just think Spence is too big and strong for Mikey, and expect Spence to win by KO.

 

mikey has the skills, composure, and power to beat spence. if he can keep spence from out muscling him, and wearing him down physically he has a chance. weight and strength will be the determining factor, skills wise mikey has a small edge.

 

How can anyone be confident about Mikey's chances with Spence?

 

Win or lose, at least he has the stones to step up and take the fight unlike a lot of other guys. And yes, I think he has a chance to win. I think it's a great matchup and props to Mikey for taking the chance

 

The styles matchup FAVORS Mikey (pressure fighter vs. counterpunching). The size and power FAVORS Spence.

But is Mikey an ELITE counterpunches on the level of say JMM? I would pick the roided JMM of the Pacquiao fights to destroy Spence.

 

I'm pretty confident Spence wins (Garcia loses)... does that count?

 

Mikey has what it takes to beat Spence. He has more experience as a pro and comes from a boxing family and I believe that gives him the edge.

 

Of course he has something to lose. It doesn't matter if Mikey goes up 160 and losses to Canelo, no undefeated fighter wants to give up his 0. Especially an elite fighter who earned his record.

I don't think fight fans will lose any respect for Mikey for losing to Spence, in fact stepping up to fight Spence will only enhance his reputation, win or lose. I don't see a loss to Spence affecting his earning potential in the sport either. That's what I meant.
