Anyone depressed after last nights fights?

gatti ward really brought this style to the fore front of popularity. And I must admit the first time I saw it I was wowed. but as time passed and I saw rios vs alvarado perezvsamogbed not so much. I dont think the fans are to blame because a fighter can choose his own style. boxing fans come in all flavors

I like technical fighters which are not that popular, loma, rigo, frampton, lara, crawford, mayweather

 

I know what you mean. We def had some good boxing on sat night and it was a great show. Ive accepted that the sport can produce a good 20-30 fights per year. I've also accepted that the top 5 names will be managed carefully and to not expect much from them. I see people getting frustrated with Canelo's choice of opponents but it is what it is. Why get mad? LOL. These guys are looking out for themselves FIRST. As should we

 

He's the champ, dumbass. You're comparing him to a fringe contender.

 

Potato potato. Oscar Molina is one of the most boring fighters out there, yet he manages to stay active. Rigondeaux is the champ but he barely gets to even fight once a year.

 

So your theory is that some promoter and network should give him boatloads of money even though they'll lose money because he doesn't fill seats and he doesn't draw viewers?

Why doesn't his own promoter have him in the ring more often? Why isn't that promoter investing in him and paying enormous money that no one can turn down? Why is it up to other people who have no investment in him to load up sacks of money to deliver to his doorstep?

 

He's fighting a highly ranked opponent in a few weeks.

 

And he only fought once in 16 and once in 15.
You missed my whole point. If someone like Oscar Molina can get 5 fights a year, then Rigondeaux should be able to kick up his activity. Hes a champ.
Yes the top dogs are avoiding Rigondeaux, but it´s not like Molina is in a different boat. Nobody wants to fight Molina, so he is climbing his way back up the ladder. Rigondeaux is standing still and just waiting for an opportunity. He should have kept up with the likes of Jazza, and just kept knocking them over.
Activity in the ring can get a fighter far these days. Especially when everyone else is standing still.

Rigondeaux obviously should fight more often. But the comparison is completely bizarre. First of all, the guy's name is Carlos Molina, not Oscar. He hasn't even beaten a worthy opponent since 2013 and he's fought a string of bums since losing to K-9, a guy who top fighters don't lose to. I'm sure he netted less than Rigondeaux last year.

In contrast, Rigondeaux is the man. He's already at the top. Fighting bums might be good for his pockets but do little else for him. He took his act to Britain last year to last year to build his name where Frampton and Quigg fight. Frampton is a coward who already pulled one the worst ducking routines in history to avoid Rigo, so that fight is unlikely. But Quigg could step up. Rigo's upcoming fight against a worthy challenger is a positive, whereas a string of bums wouldn't be unless those fights were in England.

 

You are missing my point.
Molina is putting in the work to get back to the top.
Rigondeaux is sitting in the sidelines waiting for one of the top fighters to step up.
One man is willing to build a profile, the other is not.

 

You don't make sense.

Rigondeaux is fighting a man who is better than anyone Molina beat in his entire career (Spinks and Cintron were past it) in a few weeks. Molina is toiling in obscurity. Rigondeaux is paid six figures to step in the ring, minimum. Molina is paid in crumbs. Rigo is one of the most feared, accomplished, and respected fighters in the sport. Molina is a sex offender.

You don't fight your way to the top when you're already above your peers. You seem to miss that.

 

You seem to miss that Frampton, Cruz and Quigg ducked Rigondeaux. You seem to forget that WBA and WBO stripped him(After Quigg unified with Frampton, WBA gave Rigo his belt back. A money grab).
And how many years did Rigo wait for Flores? His best opponent since Donaire. Best opponent in 4 years...
