You are right. His statement was absurd.

However I think it's safe to say that Bradley has not been at his prime since leaving 140 and clearly not by the time of going into that second Pac fight.

    Best fighter:
    1. 2014 Bradley
    2. 2014 Hopkins
    3. 2014 Gamboa

Thank you... Unfortunately it is not "hip" and "cool" for most fans to follow the Flyweights so they can't consider or properly value them in a discussion of achievement rewarding.

    Everyone enforces their own criteria.

You're so hip and cool for how inside you are, you find coolness in being so very uncool, but I really shouldn't talk..... I'm just messing with you.

Roman should definitely be in the discussion hopefully he will be next year, if the rumors of HBO and Showtime wanting him on are true.

If we are going purely by the rankings at the time then yes, Bradley is the highest ranked opponent. But, based on that logic Bradley should've probably landed FOTY in 2012...instead of death threats.

Crawford earned the award in part because he progressed the most in terms of standing from the start of the year till now. He was simply an up-and-coming contender when the year begin; and now he's the lineal champion and a legitimate star. With the exception of Inoue, no one else has travelled down that path.

Plus, there's the way it was done.

He defeated arguably the most talented fighter of anyone that the top candidates faced in impressive fashion, won the title against an established titleholder in a hostile environment and pretty much shut out the next best lightweight in order to secure his claim to the lineal championship. That's pretty impressive, and I don't begrudge anyone giving him the honour this year.

I don't disagree with it . Because hes worthy...

I just feel Kovalev was MORE WORTHY .

Kovalev should have been the FOTY .

I guess it comes down to whether one great win, and two okay scalps can supercede three good wins- one of which is really good.

I give the edge to TC, but Kovalev is certainly worthy of consideration.

I'm inclined to say yes, but only because Pacquiao already tapped that ass once.

BUT Hopkins is a wiley old phuck and Kovalev was supposed to be a limited power puncher. It's the manner of Kovalev's win. He basically put on a clinic against Hopkins and straight up dominated, owned, and embarrassed him.

    No love for Andy Lee?

beat John Jackson in a come from behind victory, on the very brink of defeat, with a 1 punch knockout..

goes on to beat Korobov, undefeated gold medalist who was -470 to win that fight, and he KHTFO...w.e I guess since these aren't the biggest names, and neither is Lee, he won't even get mentioned...C'est la vie

The same arguments you made AGAINST Crawford can be made towards Pac.

    Crawford is a solid pick.

Kovalev has been way more dominant in his wins .

His 12 rnd shutout over Hopkins which NO ONE expected at all is more solid than anything Crawford has done in his career .

Wouldn't call it a clinic. As with every other opponent, Hopkins was reluctant to attack because he can be KO'd. Kovalev did an excellent job of not giving any openings.

Won't argue, I voted Kovalev in another thread.

I do disagree. Who cares about those small guys? Fighter of the year should be Wladimir KlitschKO or Sergey KOvalev. Triple G could be a runner up.
