The main reason I’m Not going to the wilder fury fight is the corruption. I see a robbery in the books here for Wilder. I’m becoming more casual again. I watched intensely for a few years. Just too shady business and terrible matchmaking
I will also add that I wanted to just stop watching Bivol vs. Pascal around the third round. Then I totally regretted sticking around by round 9. But then I was committed so I kept watching. And then I totally regretted not bailing out then when the final bell rang.
Guys... the boxing business/politics is nothing new. It's no worse now than it was 10 years ago, or longer before then. And it's probably not as bad as it once was if you go much further back. However, the matchmaking is just awful. I swear it's worse than it was 10 years ago.
Social media and instant access to information makes everything seem worse. But the matchmaking has been atrocious at times. This is why I tend to focus more on the lower tier guys. They fight each other and it's a ton of fun. Meanwhile the guys at the top might only fight one top contender a year. I feel this has a lot to do with the fact that so many were overpaid for years.
I’ve always said that I’m the forums casual fan anyway esp on here as the knowledge of everyone is frightening lol.If I was a casual then I’m not sure what that makes me now as I just can’t even bring myself to watch any fights of late. The big one for me was when my sixty four year old mother who doesn’t like boxing but had to endure it when I went round to view it on sky and that even she could score the fights or at least knew who won and then having her laugh at me for presuming it would be scored fairly. Isn’t there a saying that mums know best or something?well in this she was right cause she kept on saying why do you bother watching that and get all wound up and that boxing has always been corrupt lol. Course we all know this but of late it’s just gotten ridiculous and what bothers me more than anything in this age of forums and social media is how it truly doesn’t matter what happens in the ring or even what the commentators and experts say at the time as there are folk who are so into a particular fighter that all of a sudden the commentators,ex pros, newspapers ect know nothing compared to them, even a general consensus of 90% means nothing so you see what you dealing with, deluded fans who would happily ignore a twelve round shut out and think their guy won. More worryingly this attitude speaks more about themselves and how they ain’t interested in fair play or the spirit of the rules of boxing. I was a big AJ fan until I saw more of the same A side BS with him against Parker and the one that still bugs me was the total disrespect shown to Postal against Taylor when at one point Postal was up after up seven rounds and Taylor needed the knockout imo which he got but the judges barely gave him a round.
