Anyone else disappointed that Floyd is taking a "long break" during his prime years?

Dammit, Floyd. You can rest all you want when you retire.

But Mayweather only has 2-3 years left before his reflexes begin to deteriorate and it would bring some closure to boxing fans if he spent those years fighting instead of promoting.

That was a beautiful left hook, though!

I didn't see an evidence of hand problems tonight, but they have been a problem for him in the past, and will be a problem for him in the future.

I'd rather see Floyd take a rest and come back with a healthy performance( like tonight ) than see him rush into a quick fight and fight like he did against Baldomir( when he hurt his right hand )

I don't think he's gonna take a break.. I think he's using that as a bargaining tool to get more money for a possible fight with Cotto.. It's all Money to Money Mayweather! If it dont make dollars it dont make sense!

For what? It's not like he's been fighting a rigorous schedule anyways.

He averages one fight every 6-7 months and now he's taking an even longer break?

Hatton is not a B class fighter. It's just that Mayweather is above A class -- he's one of the best defensive boxers to ever step into the ring. Hatton has an excellent record and gave Mayweather some trouble before being taken out. He's A class.

I think it would be a big mistake for Floyd not to maximize his prime years. If he goes away for two years he will never come back the same fighter. He should fight all he wants to now, keep his momentum going and then retire for real. Besides, he is the super star of our sport now, wouldn't be the best thing for boxing right now and the welter weight division is too interesting to lose him now.

pbf fought only twice this year. he'll probably do only one fight around this time next year.
