I am admittedly a big donaire fan so maybe im biased but i thought Mthalane was a good fighter with a very good guard and a nice stiff jab. Anyways it was emotional at the end of the fight Mthalane got very unlucky and got cut inside the eyelid even though the cut was caused by a punch it was unlucky. Donaire won in my eyes rounds 1 and 2, 3 and 5 could have gone either way and 4 was Mthalane. Donaire was never in trouble and as usual threw some sick counters. IMO same trouble as always Donaire is great as counterpunching but he has trouble getting off first. Great fight! Bring on a tuneup for Donaire at 115 (even though he's already fought there) with Vic vs Arce as the main event, and then Donaire vs Darchiyan rematch, and then Donaire vs Montiel for all the marbles. some nice gifs for Donaire fans: This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected

hell yea mthalane is a very impressive boxer and for a moment i almost thought he was going to pull an upset. no showboating or anything spectacular, but he's all business. if donaire won't give him a rematch, which would be smart if he didn't, mthalane will be a world champion if he keeps it up. I'm sure of it

Lets not get carried away, although mthalane had a bit of a comeback, Donaire started to gain the upprhand again in the 6th. Bit rusty Donaire, but I love this guys style.. But mthalene can fight..solid fighter
hey i don't think Donaire will give him a rematch but i don't think he will run from a rematch if Mthalane earns his spot either. Mthalane is the kind of guy you fight cause you have to. Not a big draw at all. Also with the body shots Donaire was landing and the way he was starting to take control of the fight in the 6th i don't think an upset was in the making at all.
Donaire was clearly ahead but Mthalane had the momentum towards the end. I felt it was a dissappointing performance by Donarie with an even more disappointing ending. I hope it was just ring rust on Donaire's part and maybe he can fight more than just once next year.
I did. Mthalane is a skilled fighter. Once he gets a lil better on the offensive, he's gonna shine in the division
