True, Ward hasn't been in there with a banger like Kov but, he has shut guys down that hit hard and are faster than Kov! If Kov can't land his big shots he gets beat badly! Ward has proven he can make guys miss, Kov has been in there with guys that have bad reflexes, like Hopkins or sitting ducks like Pascal! No comparison to Ward! By the way, Pascal and Hopkins are Kovs best wins! That kinda puts things in perspective! Don't get me wrong, Kov is a force to be reckoned with! A very, very bad man! He hurts people in there and seems to enjoy doing it! Ward definitely needs to bring an A++ game in there come fight night. Kov needs an A+ game as well. This is a good fight and for someone to come on here and make a dumb statement that one guy rag dolls the other is an indication of how ill informed one is when it comes to the sport of boxing!

I think that if you come out from under this alt and reveal who you are...that posters would **** on you even worse than they did before you crawled under this alt.

    :good
    good post.
i give a slight edge to kovalev cause i believe him to be a naturally bigger man... he is all bone and sinew. i think ward is smart enough to come up with a great fight plan using his considerable skills, i just dont think he will be able to handle the difference in strength and power in such a skilled package.

I think it's going to be a good but ugly fight. Ward is going to be on the inside and if Kov can't get him off of him and trys to punch on the inside he will lose. Kov does his damage from distance, kinda like Kostya Tszyu. Remember once hatton got in on him he couldn't do much. Plus ward boxes a hell of a lot better than Hatton did. I see Ward fighting a smart fight. If he is outside he's going to be way outside so Kov can't work and on the inside he's going to be a terror. I just feel ward can do more than Kov. He can adjust, not saying kov can't, just never seem him do it because he is always in control and fights his fight. I can see Ward taking Kov out of his game plan before Kov takes Ward out of his. Very interesting fight. I like both these dudes! Is that allowed on this site anymore?

I'm excited to see the fight. I lean towards Ward winning (better core strength and balance), but I want Kovalev to win.

I can't decide why I want Kovalev to win because I used to be a big Ward fan. Ward is the kind of black dude that I really like because he is the opposite of Broner. I'm wondering if I favor Kov just because he is white, or I want Ward to lose because I hate his fans on here that remind me of Broner/black lives matter types.

Or maybe I just like Kovalev style and power more than Ward's way of thwarting a fight? IDK

Wards best wins were against poorly technical sluggers with heavy hands.Kovalev can easily outbox and knock out Either Froch or Kessler, this should tell you something. Ward has NEVER faced a fighter that can box, and knock you out as proficiently as Kovalev. Kovalev can box, his knock out power is an extra gift. Ward isnt going to make it past the 7th round.

You are torn between being a self loathing liberal, or a pragmatic person.

Ward is definitely being over looked by alot of people here. Kovalev is a decent LHW with great power and solid fundamentals but there are still alot of questions surrounding his career. While the best at LHW his 2 best wins are Pascal and an ancient Hopkins. Ward is light years above either fighter at this moment. He has the defensive prowess to not get hit and is a master of distance. His reflexes are still solid and will be the faster man going into the fight. His ring IQ alone and ability to make adjustments during a fight are not something Kovalev has ever faced before. It is certainly an interesting matchup especially when you account Wards layoff which favors Kovalev. It is more of a pick em fight then many will admit.

Ward is no longer rusty, by the time he fights Kovalev he wont have any ring rust, there should be no excuses.

Put it this way, and this is irrefutable, Wards best win is better than Kovs best win! Neither man has faced the equal to the other man! The night they step into the ring , they will be facing their best opponent! Making a statement that Kov knocks out Ward is dumb! There is nothing in Wards career that leads one to believe Kov wins easily or by KO! Who has Kov beat that makes you say that? What, because Kov dominated an old Hopkins and a one dimensional, no defense fighter in Pascal! Gotta do better than that! Ward is world class and has fought guys close to Kov's skill set, you can't say the same about Kov. Name one guy Kov has beat that comes close to the level of Ward!

A fighters prime is fleeting. There will always be some questions when a fighter goes from being game and taking on the best around him to being inactive and fighting lesser opposition. It can soften you up.

It isn't making excuses and I would not bring this up if Ward loses anyway. He took the contract and it is his trainers job to prepare him despite any past issues. He better make sure Ward is 100% if he is fighting Kovalev. Either way no excuses here! I actually think it is rather annoying when fans cry on and on about excuse A, B, and C, as to why their fighter lost a fight they said they would win.

In my opinion it is a pick em fight and I cannot wait til it happens. The winner deserves all the respect he gets.

A 49 year old Hopkins still beats 95 percent of the Lightheavy weight division, and outboxes all of them. A 49 year old Hopkins would also put up a boxing clinic on one dimensional, heavy handed sluggers like Froch and Kessler, this 49 year old Hopkins has outboxed, outsmarted and made to look silly younger fighters before him, yet Kovalev made Hopkins seem lost. Fact is, if we were to put Kovalev against Froch or Kessler, Kovalev will not EVER have to knock either one down in order to win, he can just use his superior boxing pedigree to get the win, Pascal would put up a VERY competitive fight with Ward, while Kovalev knocks out Pascal before 6 rounds , the difference is vast. :deal Kovalev has 50 times more boxing prowess than Abraham, Kessler or Froch, the difference in skill is too great, Kovalev is on another level. Everybody Ward has faced will be horribly OUTBOXED by Kovalev, while Ward will have competitive fights with anybody Kovalev has faced. But regardless I cannot wait to see the fight, the difference between Kessler/Froch and Kovalev is obvious, when Ward gets knocked out, the realization will hit you on the head.

You write well! Unfortunately nothing you wrote was factual! You don't know that Kov out boxes or ko's Kessler or Frock, you don't know that Hopkins out boxes 95% of the light heavies! What is fact is Ward beat Kessler, Froch, Dawson and Abraham, all of which were better op than anyone Kov has faced. Those are facts! I say again, Kov is the real deal and Ward has his work cut out for him but, so does Kov! This is a tough fight for both men! Anyone who thinks different know little to nothing about boxing!
