Anyone else feel Abraham might ko ward?

Yeah probably so..... if the original lineup had remained in place, the only switch would have been that fight to ensure that each fighter has one home and one away in their first two fights.

The third group stage would have been Ward vs Dirrell, obviously in the States, then Froch vs AA and Kessler vs Taylor.... that's where the conundrum would have been as to who gets what. Obviously Taylor would have had two losses so would have been best travelling for the $$$, Froch vs AA would have been the farce that it ultimately was, venue wise.

 

Bottom line is the Yanks needed either Taylor, Dirrell or Ward in the final and they are doing what they can to get him there. thats not to say he wouldn't be there without the help, but.....

You think its unreasonable? Only one fighter has had every fight at home and he's the American Olympic gold medalist and Showtime are selling the tournmanent to an American audience?

I wouldnt really call it a conspiracy theory, more just typical boxing promotion, it obviously makes financial sense to have a yank in the semis/final if its going to be in america.



On the fight Im not sure Abraham even has much of a punchers chance, as that would require him to punch and not stand still with his hands in front of his face, its also the reason that awful Green fella had no punchers chance despite the commentators insisting he did as he wouldnt ****ing punch.

Depends if ward can have the energy and focus to stick to his gameplan and avoid getting close to abraham.

I have doubts over Ward's chin, so if the fight ends up being remotely close and Abraham is willing to throw punches, especially combinations to the body, I think he'll win by knockout. The key to this fight is Abraham being able to take Ward's legs away, I think. Abraham is too much of a plodder to catch Ward over 12 rounds unless he manages to slow him down. In the past, Abraham has been an effective body puncher and if he manages to use those skills against Ward, take the spring out of his step after the 9th round, then I'd favour Abraham. However, if he doesn't manage to do this, like he didn't against Froch, then realistically Abraham has very little chance. Ward's footwork is too good and he's too fast to be caught otherwise. It's essential for Abraham he slows Ward down.

If Abraham is to be successful, the fight has to resemble the Taylor bout. If Ward is to be successful, the fight has to resemble the Froch bout.

I think you'd have to favour Ward but I wouldn't count Abraham out. He has the power to knock Ward out and if the fight has any close rounds after the 9th, I wouldn't be surprised to see Abraham win.

To be honest i dont think Abraham believes in himself anymore, he better hope Ward gets reckless because i doubt Abraham will be willing to push the action.

Ward isn't a hard puncher, but much like Mayweather, he's got a good skill for landing when an opponent is out of position. It hurts them a lot more than it normally would. That makes any fighter wary of throwing too much.
