I think he's going to feel like **** after last night, theres been so much promise about him and now he's failed, i think he was fighting really well for 10 rounds, he just seems a bit fragile, i guess ariza can work with him some more but i honestly could see a fighter like john murray presenting him difficulties, i hope this is not the end of linares he has buckets of skill.

salgado and demarco are ordinary fighters who he shouldnt be having problems with, i was expecting this guy to have finished off demarco by the 6th

I hope not. He's a fantastic fighter and if he had a bit more luck last night, he'd have won a clear UD. I think the cut badly affected him and cost him the fight. Not taking anything away from DeMarco either, because he's a strong willed, tough fighter, but Linares was clearly superior.

I think a rematch is likely. If that happens, I'll bet on Linares.

nah, no chance. he fought a great fight and if it wasn't for the cut would be a world champion. he'll understand that these things happen in boxing with his experience and will move forward and look for the big fights. its not a loss where he has to now be eased back into the frame, once he has healed he won't be too far away from a fight agains a solid 135 lbs contender.

Why shouldn't be having trouble with them?!? For ****s sake, he isn't that good and never has been, reason he's lost to this calibre of fighter is because he is nothing special, look past the belts and look at his level of opposition and performance.

He's a never was, except for Internet hype and paper titles.

He's talented but like talents before him and in future some have frailties that stop them reaching potential. Hope he comes back his courage last night was great!

    This.

Christ, people are STILL making out that he's a special fighter? Flashy is all he is in reality, DeMarco was completely made to order for him, yet the same frailties show up. No defense, no ability to get himself out of danger(despite having supposedly "magnificent" footwork:roll:) and little focus down the stretch. No top class fighter would lose to DeMarco in any capacity, it's harsh but true.

And people told me he'd beat Aguacerito.

Flashy sounds about right. People see some speed and combinations that look pleasing to the eye and they call them special fighters. I know their styles are different but reminds me of Judah and Berto with regards to the flashy=special fighter scenario

I don't buy into the idea that Linares is anything special, but he should have won that fight comfortably even though he was pouring blood at the end. He was way ahead on the cards but unfortunately his tactic of blocking every single one of De Marco's shots with his face back-fired badly...

punch i think or roach would have pulled linares out of the 10th saying he can't see and get the nod on the cards. but the problem was that there was 2-3 different cuts and probably a broken nose to go with it.

Larios was way past his best. He'd gone the 12 with Pac, but had opted out against Vasquez on a cut one fight prior (and been blasted out in one by Vasquez years before that) and by the time of the Linares fight was shopworn.

Also, what does that really count for you ****ing tool? Patios has never been all that great, and bar a decent showing against Juarez (dropping him was impressive) Linares has done **** all.

So yes, it pretty much counts for **** before you assume that I didn't take that win into consideration when assessing him. He's one of the most overrated fighters of recent years, a lower level Guerrero in terms of moving up in weight without every dominating any class he's been in.

Some decent attributes. Nice jab, can put shots together well, but has an air of vulnerability and doesn't display anything that impressive.

    Going nowhere.

    Exactly.

I don't think it ever looked like Valero would knock Demarco out. No reason at all why Linares would stop him IMO.
