I know there are a lot of Setanta threads on here at the moment but these guys made such a great effort to actually deliver what they're customers wanted. They were so much more customer friendly then Sky I'm actually gutted they are soon to be no more.

Lifes about trying to do the best you can and these guys gave it a great shot. I'm very sad for them.

With ITV and SKY seeming to have no idea of how to please Sports fans WTF are we going to do?

I feel sorry for them, lots of people will be out of work and in this economic climate it will be difficult for them to get straight back into work.

Plus their boxing coverage was top notch and that will be missed.

I feel sympathy for the workers like i do for employees of any company going under, not for the bosses. remember they still have setanta in 20 other countries.

First of all, as others have said, I feel terrible for those people about to be redunant and can ill afford to be. May luck be on their side in the forthcoming months.

Setanta was a business and in capitalist countries failing business risk the possibility that finances may dictate that they have to stop trading. They knew the risks and, it seems, didn't take a pragmatic approach to running a business. I often accused Setanta of buying boxing not because they truely cared about the sport but because it forced people to subscribe. Friends of mine who watch other sports snapped up by Setanta feel the same. This stragery was edvident every time we had a big US fight on Setanta. Sure Buncey was always enjoyable and Andy Kerr grew on most people, but the coverage was amatuer at best and disgraceful at worse. We always had the poor international feed commentators, were lucky to see more than 2 fights and, most disgraceful of all in my opinion, for the live coverage of Bradley vs Cherry they spent a lot of time telling us what "Dave from Dagenham" thought was going to happen and joined the fight with around 20 seconds left of the 1st round. This would never happen on Sky.

So no, I don't feel sorry for Setanta as a company and will not look back and mourn their demise.

One last thing, although I have no proof to confirm this I have long suspected, as have others, that Setanta encouraged employees to post on forums like this to completely praise their coverage and attack any critisim. If this is true than they are complete and utter wankers.

I finally cancelled with them yesterday.

I have been with them for 5 years. My primary reason for subscribing in the first place was for Scottish premier league football and for gaelic games. I had been watching their coverage of ireland games since shortly after they came into existence. I loved the way the name of the pub that would be showing the game would be passed around and you would have to decipher bull**** from fact.

It was primarily through the great fights they showed on setanta that my interest in boxing was piqued. So I guess that makes me a newbie to both the sport and this forum.

With the advent of the EPL deal, and the £9.99 a month offer they had I felt like they had moved on to something more than my needs. As an existing customer I was not offered that deal. If I cancelled then, I would have been subject to a reconnection charge. I know its just business but i felt let down by that. I stuck with them regardless as I was generally happy with what I was getting.

Do I feel sorry for them. Not really. Will I miss them. yes.

They chose not to dance with the partner that took them to the disco and now they are paying for it. They don't deserve the loyalty I and many others gave them.

I'd love to see a bit of dissent on the Setanta airwaves before they go down, just to liven things up a bit before the lights get turned off.
