Anyone else feel the typical Mike Tyson 'flaw' is over-exaggerated?

Can't disagree more. Tyson isn't the only boxer who had problems to deal with. Part of how you react outside of the ring has major implements inside of the ring. We could make a huge list of boxers with distractions, legal disputes, mental problems etc but we can only rank them on how they performed. If Tyson was to mentally weak to deal with them then he should have retired, he didn't because he felt he was good enough to compete and wanted the money and he should be ranked accordingly.

Nope, your talking tail end of his career there when he was a shot fighter, its the same as Williams and Mcbride for Tyson but to rule everything out after Spinks is ridiculous, he was still putting in decent performances against the likes of Ruddock, Botha, golota etc and was a world champion when he was beaten by Holyfield.

Its like saying I'm writing off Wilfred Benitez career after Roberto Duran or Pavliks after Taylor 2 etc. Sure he may not have been at his very best but he was still capable and any losses or poor performances up until he was shot are viable to bring up.
