Loma gave away too many early rounds. I had if 5-1 Lopez after 6. And no doubt, because Lomachenko wasn’t punching enough. Then he rallied - I think at best he could get draw - because he lost 12th. So no he didn’t win. He just took too long to get going. Too much respect or long layoff against a young fighter that was sharp tonight.
No. As much as I want Loma win. I can't score him to win the earlier 6 rounds. If anything, Loma only won Round 2. Honestly, it was Loma's fault to respect Lopez power that much to give away so many crucial beginning rounds.
Nah. Absolute best case scenario was a draw. 2, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 were the only rounds you could make a case for Loma winning, and even then some of those (specifically 2 and 7) were very close and could have gone to Teo.
If you know boxing, you know this fight was no where near a draw nor was Loma EVER ahead. He took 3 rounds MAX.
Close fight. Edge to Lopez. Loma fought too conservatively the first half of the fight, but seemed to end up inflicting more punishment overall. In the end, though, there wasn’t much to choose between them. It would be nice to see a rematch to, hopefully, get a more definitive conclusion. It’s possible, though, if Loma fought a riskier fight early on, he’d get busted up (even rocked, knocked down or out). So maybe the conservative strategy (wait until Lopez’s power and sharpness diminishes somewhat) is really his only option. If so, we’d likely see a replay of this fight.
Exactly. You can't get to 7 and I think 6 would be bad scoring. Anything between 9-3 and 7-5 is best. (I had it 8-4.)
