Atlas loves to hear himself talk and is soooo repetitive in his ramblings. He is a cartoon character who is totally delusional.
Honestly he ain't that bad IMO but only at ESPN or any other "smaller" event, I'd surely not want him to commentate over a PPV fight.
I like Atlas but like all commentators he has his bias and can ruin a fight with it He has good pre fight insight and understands the sport very well, probably better than most commentators My only problems are: 1) if a fighter doesn't do what he expects in the teddys tips it seems like he thinks they are losing and continues to yam on about how the guys is fighting the wrong fight and losing 2)His rants though often times right and raise the obvious problems with the event or the sport in general can be too over the top and I think he casts a negative aura of the sport to the casuals. You always see Teddy do a this "The judges always get it wrong they are incompetent or corrupt by the big money from the promoter in the home town and this guy never had a chance on the cards,,,,boxing is so corrupt and dirty and has to be fixed its a problem!!!" or "these boxers don't fight the best, theres four belts they all avoid each other its not as good as it was in the 50s" He may not be wrong but if you are someone who doesn't follow closely, that rant may make you never watch again or follow interested in the sport.. He can be good for the die hards in his rants but it makes the sport look stupid and unwatchable or followable or understandable to casuals
He's OK, I'd like him as a trainer but he can get annoying sometimes. Just depends on what he's talking about.
The funniest part is when he completely bungles a scorecard and then declares the sport corrupt when the judges have it different.
Atlas is a biased man. He must be bitter too as his picks are usually wrong! Sometimes he can add a little from a trainer's perceptive. If you ask me his 15 minutes of fame should have been up long ago.
i hate his commentary but i LOVE the passion he has for the sport of boxing and how much he cares for it, you can see it when robberys are announced the man is not afraid to not just tell it like it is BUT TELL EVERY CORRUPT JUDGE HOW CANCEROUS THEY ARE
Teddy Atlas is sorta like a Jedi Master. Teddy's knowledge of boxing is deeply profound. And he is unbiased.
He's better than lampley...Atlas at least calls what he sees..Jim creates landed shots and other movements that aren't even happening to trick the viewer
