I like him, he's got great boxing knowledge and he spots things about a fighter that others normally wouldn't. He goes off from time to time, but it's an emotional sport and he loves boxing. His book is also fantastic.

Yeah, Tyson was 15, Atlas was about 26, and Atlas needed a gun. Atlas is a punk and a coward.

A 15 year old Tyson>>>> 99% of 26 year old men in a physical confrontation.

Mike crossed a line and Teddy pulled rank and taught him a valuable lesson: That there are consequences for your actions and that he would pay for them dearly if he ever stepped over that line again. Teddy could've just given him a severe beating but putting a gun to his head and threatening to blow his brains out was a much more effective method to get through to him IMO. He made him stare over the edge of the abyss and contemplate his own mortality. It was a lesson that Mike badly needed to learn back then. He did him a huge favour and society too.

Personally I think Teddy should've pulled the trigger. Not when he had it aimed at his head or anything - that would've been an overreaction on his part IMO - but rather he should've just moved the barrel to the side a couple of inches or so and let a round go to really ram the message home that he wasn't playing. Or maybe he should've just given him a little superficial wound to let him know he meant business. Like blowing a piece of his earlobe off or something.

Perhaps Mike's life wouldn't have turned out the way it did had Teddy done so. Who knows perhaps he would'n't have self-destructed at an early age and thrown his career down the pan, or been sent to the pen for violating the delectable Miss Washington's ass or be the bi-polar manic depressive of today who can't function like a normal human being without the aid of a whole host of various antidepressants, mood stabilizers and weekly visits to his shrink.

Easy to say from the safety and anonymity of cyberspace. I doubt you'd able to pluck up the courage say that to his face mano et mano. In fact, I know you wouldn't and deep down so do you too.

Thanks. I thought my reply was very Atlas-esque. A nice blend of cruel to be kind compassion with a liberal dose of no nonsense Eastwood circa 1964 alpha male thrown in :good

I would say it to his face, if situation called for it. I have met him, he is a punk and coward. He has gotten in arguments where he backed down when he did not have guys backing him up.

Atlas having fanboys is one example of how he is not an asset to the sport. He should focus on fighters getting attention, not himself, as he always does. He is a punk, and a sneak. He was once told off by an amateur he had trained, and did nothing, till he had chance to run up and jump on him from behind. It was Roosevelt "Robbie" Williams in early 1980's. Williams rightfully told off Atlas in front of people in old Gleason's gym, Atlas did nothing, till Williams turned his back, walked away. And how about LaLonde? Why did Atlas need a gun there too?

Teddy was barley 135 pounds at the time. But read his book, he claims he was superman, so why should he need a gun?

Atlas is a legend in his own mind, nothing but an attention *****. Remember the time he said he could take a HW and beat the Klitschko's.......so he gets with Povetkin, and took him from #1 contender and totally regressed him, made him pull out of the Klitschko fight, then walked away after fighting a string of bums and losing his mando spot?

    Screw Atlas!
