Just curious? I know of his amateur fights but not too much else..Just seems like a big step up in opposition for a fighter with 10 fights. Could be upset city. Please discuss.....

Dude, can't you move it back before the fight? I haven't seen any of his opponent but he's in better shape the Shumenov, is 22-0(13KOs). It also seems odd that Goosen would put Shumenov in with a guy thats THAT much more experienced AND undefeated. **** just don't seem right. Shumenov is a decent fighter with plenty of room to grow not the next Roy Jones Jr.

Your predictions have been some what retarted lately, but lets see.

The guy Shumenov is fighting is the only guy to Stop and destroy the great Tomas Adamek. But I believe Shumenov will handle this guy.

I think it'll be interesting regardless. Based on styles, it should be a very fan frinedly fight.

Only seen Uzelkov a few times, but one of those was against Campilo, who I rate highly and Uzelkov stopped him in 6 rounds.

Oddsmakers have this at almost a dead even fight.

Honestly think Uzelkov should be favored. Shumenov's stamina woes surely won't be aided by fighting outdoors.

Uzelkov by stoppage seems the most likely.

Uzelkov is the manditory, no choice.

Uzelkov has a KO win over Campillo, a sound defense, and a big punch.

Just read Uzelkov came in at his lightest weight because he wasn't offered a translator and wasn't given access to scales until hours before the weigh in. Thus he starved himself to be sure.

Don't know what to make of this.

Shumenov has a borrowed title, he barely beat Campillo, and i genuinely think that Uzelkov will expose him. It's a pity that this should all happen to a guy who is just 26, and has only 10 fights.

But it begs the question - how did he get a title shot in the first place?

    no

in fact I think Shumenov is going to have a fluke win. Like an early KO.

Sound defense might be overstating things a bit. But he's the biggest puncher that Shumenov has ever faced, and he's a faster puncher than Shumenov, and his defense is better than Shumenov's. Unless Shumenov really has improved since the last time I saw him (since he can now focus on training full time), I suspect Uzelkov will take this one. Beibut seems to have a good chin, so I don't know if it will be a knockout.

Two things - money and being his own promoter. Eight fights into his career, he'd already moved into the top 5 with a bunch of the ABCs because he'd beaten lots of ranked opponents.

When Campillo upset Garay to become champ, Universum tried to force him into a rematch for peanuts. Shumenov offered him a quarter million to fight him in Kazakhstan, where Shumenov sold out a soccer stadium for the fight (which I suspect was the first title fight to actually take place in Kazakhstan, and almost certainly the first in his hometown). When Shumenov lost a close decision, he complained to the WBA that Campillo didn't take his blood tests and refused to pay Campillo, and in exchange for getting paid, they agreed to a rematch.

After Campillo's close loss, the WBA reinserted him as the #1 contender, so the winner of this will probably need to fight Campillo again.
