Anyone else have any trouble supporting Cain because of his "Brown Pride" tattoo?

I have seen nothing from the guy that would make me dislike him on a personal level. But I just can't cheer for him because, as a white guy, I am conditioned to find racial pride tattoos distasteful if not outright offensive.

    Anyone else?

Personally , (as a white guy)...I don't find it offensive...He could even tatoo "brown power" if he wants to. Same goes for black fighters..."black pride" etc...etc...

It's his skin , his choice. And the same goes for whites.

I'll be rooting for him all day and night

I find it quite hypocritical that a massive "Brown Pride" tattoo is not a problem at all. I mean, it's a racist tattoo IMO. There aren't too many arguments saying it's not, at least not so far as I can see.

I mean, if I was a good fighter, how far do you see me getting in the UFC if I chose to have a massive "German Pride" tattoo across my chest? :yep

But I suppose Brock has a ***** tattooed on his chest and is allowed to compete, so there's that as well.

Well, I didn't say that I disliked him. In fact, I was quite specific in saying that he has done nothing to make me dislike him as a person.

And how is it not a racist tattoo, when "White Pride" would certainly be considered an extremely offensive racist tattoo?

I dont see white pride as being racist
If youve been conditioned to believe that then Im not gonna argue your beliefs
But I remember seeing a video where Cain explained what that tattoo meant to him
Its been awhile but I remember it as being a pro brown statement as in proud of the struggle his people and his family went through because it made them stronger people
    Nothing anti white about it
If he states its not racist isnt that enough?

    What?

I'm not talking **** on the guy. In fact, from what I've seen of him I respect him. I just can't really cheer for him, because his tattoo puts me off. I wouldn't cheer for a guy who had White Pride tattooed all over his chest either.

Be proud of your heritage all you want, but Cain's tattoo strikes me as needlessly confrontational and divisive. I don't support people getting racial-themed tattoos, if I'm going to be automatically dismissed as a vile racist for getting "White Pride" tattooed on my chest, then I don't see why anyone else should have "Brown Pride" or "Black Pride" tattooed on their chest and have it seen as a positive thing. :conf

    :good

You can't tell me that the UFC would be interested in promoting a fighter with "White Pride" tattooed across his chest though.

Does it still read the same? :yep :good

Yeah it's not like it's a massive thing because it's obviously not a hate-based tattoo, but still the double standard irritates me to the extent that I'll cheer against Cain in matchups I wouldn't have a preference about otherwise. For example I'm cheering for JDS against him, because JDS came off like a pretty good guy on TUF and he doesn't have any tattoos that alienate me because of my skin colour.

From what I've seen of him I like Cain as a person. I just don't like racial tattoos.

Also I don't live near Mexicans, so this whole "Brown Pride" thing is not something I see, ever, except for when I watch Cain fight.

But this isnt about who the UFC chooses to promote
I agree they would probably look at a white pride tattoo different but that doesnt mean Im gonna change my opinion of the situation
And actually it does read exactly the same
Your tattoos are your personal expression
Who am I to project my interpretation on to your expression
    Im covered in tattoos
Each one means something to me
Doesnt matter if someone else thinks it means something else and it doesnt change what it means to me
Some dude walking around with a Hello Kitty tattoo may look like a super *** but maybe to him thats something personal between him and a lost family member
Dont matter what anyone else thinks about it
    You see my point?

And no I dont got no ****** ass Hello Kitty tattoo I was just using that as an example

It's not hypocritical....And if it is , then i don't see it that way...Nor do i feel concerned by this hypocrisy...Because like i said earlier , if a black or white or asian fighter wants any type of tatoo....it's the same difference to me. "brown pride" , "white pride" ," "black pride"... I don't give a ****.

Which reminds me..Kharitonov once fought against a guy who had white nationalist tats on him. (and ***** tits)
