The difference is, Diaz was a live, highly regarded, young, strong contender.

Oscar was an old, semi-retired, seriously weight drained corpse on a losing streak.

Tell me which of these you think presents the greater challenge.

Nah....he lost to PAC twice...at best he's #2. Beating an old Casa was not that impressive...His fight with Diaz although thrilling again...not that impressive with how he was handling the lesser fighter in Juan Diaz. I KNEW JMM would be Juan but NEVER thought Juan would do so well early on. PAC's wins and performances overall hold more worth and as the fighter of the year he's in the right spot at #1

Pac did indeed look like the best fighter in the world against David Diaz and Oscar.

But were those two wins of greater value than JMM's over Casamayor and Juan Diaz?

I rate Pac's win over Oscar higher than most on this forum, but even I think JMM has the edge on form over the past year, and that's of massive importance where p4p is concerned.

As I have said ever since the JMM-Juan Diaz fight, I can't separate the two.

If Pac beats Hatton, he's a clear number 1. Until then, we have a top two IMO.

I think Pacs wins were greater in terms of value. Beating someone 2 weight classes bigger, who 12 months earlier took the "then" P4P champ on for 12 rounds in a closely contested battle vs what JMM did with an old Casa whom STRUGGLED against a Kadisits. Whom is NO WHERE near the level of DLH, PAC, Juan or a Prime Casa.

Juan Diaz is a VERY good fighter! No doubt but JMM should have handled Juan in a much easier fashion. Instead Juan was winning the early and much of the middle rounds. I was surprised that Juan was able to do as well as he did with JMM to be honest but knew he'd end up KO'd.
