Me personally I'm glad they did. That's one thing I like about Arreola...with so many 24-0/22-1/25-0-1 fighters in the HW division feasting on cans to buff themselves up, he's at least TRYING to bring some clarity to the division. Just go get Kingpin Johnson and Big Six Estrada and I'm goood...
its definitely good for arreola because his proving himself against good competition but sucks for travis walker because their just using him as a speed bump when in reality if they took their time with the guy he could be pretty good imo
He needs to learn how to tie up. He was faring well against Arreola till he got hurt. He obviously didnt know what to do. He got into a punching contest while he was still hurt and payed for it. He has a future. He improves I think he could challenge for a title within the next year or so.
Yes i agree. Arreola was too big of a jump from his previous low level opposition, it almost worked out but probably it was for the best that he lost as he clearly is not ready for the big time. Just from looking at his record it would seem he consider getting new management. The Heavyweight division being what it is means that one can advance rapidly if he strings 3 good wins together. Travis should recover from his knockout loss then take on a couple of tomato cans to recover his confidence and timing then take on progressively tougher opposition. He is 29 now so even if it takes 2 years to get into the top 20 that would be fine. Then in the third year take on a top 15 or the right top 10 ten fighter if he gets lucky. Bring him along slowly so he learns how to pace himself better , learn how to clinch and waltz around the ring which eats up the seconds . Nothing wrong with his offensive skills , maybe that is why he wanted a shot at Arreola the " Punchin Palooka " who is not exactly polished but he is a good puncher , patient , durable and composed when hurt. Arreola should crack the top ten sometime next year in the rather porous heavyweight divison .
I admit, I was impressed... Walker has speed, power, and looks like he could be something special with some fine tuning... though it was not the best idea to have him mix it up with The Nightmare just yet.
