Assuming Joe really does retire after the RJJ fight for any number of reasons, such as RJJ beating him or Kelly KOs BHop, I'd be interested in seeing Pav and Kessler go at it. Kessler in my estimation did well against Calslappy, but seemed just a little to hesitant to let his hands go in order to win the fight. He (Kessler) did however, look good against Andrade who can take an enormous pounding and keep coming forward. From what I remember, having only seen the fight once or twice, I don't recall him ever being in trouble against the constant pressure Andrade applied. Granted Andrade doesnt have the Ghost's power; probably no one in the division has Pavlik's power. With that being, I think it would be an exciting fight with Pavlik's power being the x-factor in the bout. Does anyone out there want to see this happen if Calslappy retires after the RJJ bout?
We've had dozens of Pavlik/Kessler debates. Most people think it's a good fight that should happen next year. Most people would also like to see Taylor/Kessler. It's my opinion that by the end of next year the top guys at 168 will be Pavlik, Taylor, and Kessler.
Like I said on the other thread, I think this is just Winky's wishful thinking. I'm going to go do bit of looking on Google, et, and see if anyone other than Wright is actually talking about this.
There are so many interesting matchups to make with PAvlik right now Calzaghe, Abraham, Kessler, Bute would all be PPV worthy for me.
Not really, plus the physical attributes won't fit at all. Pavlik vs. Abraham would be the closed for a reminiscience to Hearns vs. Hagler...
One poster above said Pavlik/Kessler would be like Hearns/Haglar. Not even close! Pavlik/Kessler would be a tactical boxing match that would probably go the distance. The guy who wins the jabbing contest takes the fight.
I'd rather see Pav take on Kessler before Abraham. Maybe I havent seen enough of AA, but what I've seen is good defense with looping power shot. I think Pav's shots straight down the pipe beat him to the punch all day. I'd rather see him take on a more tactical fighter like Kessler. Just my opinion though.
