Anyone else like Manfredo???

I believe Lacy will come close to killing Mafredo. It's going to be brutal.

 

I think this is ridiculous.

 

I count Forbes as a contender. Manfredo isn't the best actual fighter. I mean he has used the contender as the best launch pad. The others are prima donnas, never weres etc Bollocks like Salmaci, Reid etc thinking they were ever somebodies.

Forbes is a real fighter. A real titlist before he entered. A 130-135 pounder going up to beat 147/154 pounders with SKILL!

Look at what he has done. He has come from the contender and fought Hopkins and Bojado. Guys who are supposed to be touted, he looks to shatter their dreams. Most believe he has done it twice, not once. Up until recently, the man has only lost to champs. He is a real fighter like Manfredo.

 

Well, it would be ridiculous if Gomez stays at 147 and Manfredo stays at 168; I'm assuming all the fights would be at 160 or a little lower. It's not like all three of them couldn't make weight at 157 even.

 

I'm not saying they would; I'm just saying head to head, assuming they redid the first season of Contender all over again right now, I think Gomez would come out on top rather than Mora or Manfredo, and I wouldn't come close to being shocked if he's the first of the three to grab a real belt (if he was fighting in 154 instead of 147, he'd have a decent shot at it after another year or two of improvement).

I don't understand all the talk and fuss about Peter Manfredo. He was runner up in a tv show, and lucky to get that chance. How that earned him a shot at Joe Calzaghe is beyond belief.

I've nothing against him, he seems a decent enough guy, and a decent enough boxer, but the boxing world has plenty of Peter Manfredos, what's so special about this one? Oh yeah, I forgot, he came second (sort of) on The Contender.
That show is proper pants, how did Sly Stallone get to be a mentor? Did those guys really believe they were getting Rocky Balboa or something? No, seriously, please, can someone explain it to me?

 

I do agree that some of Joe's challengers have been of the record extending type, but this was shameful. Peter stood no chance whatsoever and was fortunate it ended without him getting hurt.
Ordinary people being made famous by reality tv shows is bad enough, but to shove him in with Calzaghe for the sake of tv was a dreadful piece of matchmaking.

 

I wouldn't call him a ******, just a decent journeyman. He may have been a decent prospect once, but not any more. Losing twice in the Contender made him famous, not better. The joke fight against Calzaghe made him even more famous, but again not better.
If he put up a bit of a fight against Calzaghe, then I could class him as a fringe contender, but he didn't.
Being a minor celebrity outside the ring doesn't elevate him above other fighters of a similar ilk.

 

I like Manfredo, why not??He'll fight anyone and has a chance against a lot of them.
