Anyone else looking forward to the loser of Usyk v Fury?

The heavyweights are the least skilled division majority are puddings who only rely on size and weight to have some sort of career whereas any smaller division you need talent, heart and/or chin to make it. Although usyk is vastly superior to fury and in my eyes I think he will win but there is a massive size difference which could be the equaliser. Saying that I don’t think the ngannou thing isn’t as bad as it seems for a 20 stone, 6 foot 9 tub of lard with feather fists that never trained properly to struggle against a super strong prime condition athlete who can punch because at the end of the day the heavyweights of today aren’t that talented.. the equivalent skill set of fury, aj etc in a smaller person does nothing in the sport.

 

Exactly... If Fury fights like the Okoliepus (which he's been known to do) and just hugs and leans constantly, it'll be **** to watch and a shitshow for the sport if the officials let it happen.

And unless his condition improves a hell of a lot there's a very good chance he will.

I've been very clear I think Usyk beats him, but if he's in his best possible shape and is somehow able to use his height and reach to win a clean decision, it'd definitely elevate him significantly in my estimation... I think the odds of that are very low, but it could happen.

The odds of Fury getting a KO and then going through with a rematch are lower again - he doesn't have the power and he wouldn't take a rematch if he won IMHO... But again, I'd just have to admit he was better than I thought.


Could be entertaining seeing the Wilder fans lose their **** if Fury gets dominated much worse than Joshua did, though - and it's a very real possibility.

 

To be clear (bout to say some unpopular things): I don't think either of them are all that great. Fury especially on any sort of consistent basis. The Fury from the second Wilder fight impressed me some, but it was Wilder ffs. That's IT. In my eyes that's all he has and he's never been that good before or since.

Usyk? I rate a bit higher as he appears well prepared every single time and he is smart in how he fights. Beyond that? Is he possessed of blinding speed? Of hand or foot? No. Great power? No. Killer instinct? Meh. ATG heart? ? ? Maybe I missed it. When has he got up a couple of times wobbly and slugged it out for the win?

So that said, probably the most impressive Fury legit overcomes his deficiencies by sheer size to get the legit W over the best Usyk. But how often does peak Fury show up? Maybe never and not likely now. I think Usyk beats him but gets robbed if the fight actually happens. Unless I'm too conservative in my estimation of current Fury and Usyk beats him like Bud beat Errol.

 

Styles will make the fight, but in their last bouts Fury and Usyk were like night and day.

 

Just lol if you think this fight is actually happening.

Supposedly it did, I prefer an Usyk win.

Both camps have preposterous fans on this board, but the emotional meltdown of redbeard, miniq and thunderstorm would be very funny to see.

 

It wouldn't surprise me if either won. It doesn't mean the other is somehow a fraud.
They're both out of their prime and more inconsistent and injury-ridden now anyway, so either could have a 'bad night'.
If they have two fights, the result of one isn't defining though.
There are many outcomes possible, from one fighter dominating in both, to split results, to very close fights in both etc.
So we have to see when the dust clears.
In the end all eyes will be on AJ Wallin anyway.

 

How could you possibly view it as good for boxing if Fury were to win?

I was very certain Fury would beat Usyk but now it’s anyone’s guess.

I will be routing for Fury though. I don’t mind Usyk he got great skills but I don’t like his fanboys.

I was thinking though in the Golden eras like Louis/Marciano, Ali/Frazier/Foreman, Tyson/Holyfield/Lewis, they were all fighting each other and no one retired undefeated. Except Marciano of course but he is Marciano…..

Great scenario would be Usyk outboxes Fury, then Wilder knocks Usyk out cold. That’s how it should be done.

 

I get where OP is coming from but the HW division is so volatile and prone to upsets. Regardless of who wins, it doesn’t mean anything retrospectively. To me, there will be no excuses for either parties. If they agree to fight and show up on fight night, it means they fully believe they are fit, ready and capable to fight. Too old/undertrained/overweight/tired/depressed/whatever are just weak sauce excuses. When a fighter steps in the ring and unless it’s some freak unusual circumstance (like Zhang not knowing he had a kidney failure during the Forrest fight), it’s all fair game from that point on.

 

Maybe the two best.

There's a distinct possibility that Fury is less competitive against Usyk than Joshua was - in which case we've already seen the two best going at it, twice, for almost all the straps.

As you say, though, the prospect of an undisputed champ is important.

 

This............I said the same thing on a different thread. For the sake of not just HW boxing, but the sport of boxing Usyk needs to win.

 

What does losing to Fury have to do with Usyk not belonging at HW? Did Holyfield not belong at HW when he lost to Riddick Bowe?

 

Holyfield has +35 fights in hw after he moved up from cruiser and he fought everybody in the division .
You cannot even nearly compare this with usyk,s 5!!! hw fights where only joshua was noteworthy and anybody else was carefully choosen as the weakest opponent available .

Usyk has not shown ( beyond aj ) anything in hw up to now .
