Maybe it's because I'm more a fan of boxing rather than the individual, but what's so sad is the prejudices shown by not only posters on this site, but esteemed writers in the community as well. We have 3 of this generations top fighters on show consistently (or not in Floyd's case), but instead of appreciating them all people seem to do is argue like children!! Instead of praising JMM for a great performance and Pac for fighting someone who is quite clearly his Kryptonite 3 times, we've had "Pacquiao exposed" threads and "JMM is a cheat" threads. How many people try to discredit Ali's win over Foreman because he was consistently pulling Foreman's neck down? JMM fought another great fight against Pacquiao and used savvy and experience to get the job done. I have him 2-1 against Pac now. Pac ranks highest within this generation for me. There's no doubting he has some limitations; despite improvements he still relies heavily on that left hand, head-hunts too much and has 0 infighting skills. However, he has been a revelation and you'd have to be a fool not to see it. 8 Division champion, weight jumping phenomenon and one of the best wins of the decade over Barrera. I think it's safe to say his resume is still the greatest of this generation. I'm not a huge Floyd fan out of the ring, but there's no doubting he's the most talented of his generation. IMO he's only really struggled in 1 fight (I gave the first fight to Castillo) but his opposition has been inferior to Pac's IMO. The notion that he'll beat Pac because JMM is so effective could be off-base though. Marquez was very good at taking away Pac's left hand, whereas Mayweather has struggled slightly with southpaws in the past. Mayweather also has a tendency to back himself against the ropes, a tactic that would be suicide against a volume power-puncher like Pac. That being said I thought Floyd would beat Pac prior to this fight and still do, it's a styles thing. If there were anyone on Marquez' level of skill that was a pressure fighter a la Chavez, they would give Floyd all he could handle also (Castillo fights proved that). Every fighter has a style they don't like fighting. These 3 are in the top 5 fighters of our generation, I aim to appreciate them whilst they're here!!!
JMM is one of the greatest fighters of our day. Pacquiao and Floyd are great fighters so I'll watch them anytime they fight. I don't particularly like Floyd's personality but that doesn't matter. Pacquiao's idiot fans hurt his image. I think some people tend not to like him just because, when he goes away, his moronic fans go away.
I love them all. Floyd I love to Hate and consider him the bad guy. Manny and Marquez i love and see as the good guys. Same these are in my top 5 fave fighters - Along with Cotto and Margo. Again Margo i more love to hate. Boxing is in the entertainment industry, and without people like floyd it is nowhere near as interesting.
I like Pac when he is not singing. I like Floyd when he is not talking. I like Marquez when he is not whining.
I also enjoy watching all three of them fight. Great post, it seems the general is filled with fans that worship one particular boxer rather than boxing itself. We are extremely fortunate to witness these 3 fighting.
i like all three , but i was always into the slickster counterpuncher style so i tend to favor pbf & Jmm over pac
this.but i love watching floyd fight even tho i hope he loose.and it's not even hate,i just don't like the guy, maybe because *****s are more ******ed than *******s,but not by much
I like all 3. all are hof fighters but their rapid fanbase annoys me so much that I anxiously wait for the day they retire.
Of course man they the faces of boxing. They've done some work to get where they are, but Martinez and Donaire are right behind them and to many already consider them their equal. They are the superstars of today, but their stars still don't shine like Leonards, Durans, or Hearns. Or even Chavez I think. I would love a 4th fight, but cmon. The time for Mayweather-Pacquiao is now. I kept telling everyone Jmm will always be Pacmans equal, but many kept blowing Manny up. I like all fighters its some fans I'll push off a bridge for free.
Not anymore. Pacquiao's legion of *******s make him impossible to like. Too bad Bob Arum won't give us what we want: the mass suicide of the ******* nation after Pacquiao gets destroyed by Mayweather. The Bobfather knows Manny gets beat into retirement, so we won't get to see it unfortunately.
I don't love any of them because that would be weird. I admire all three as fighters and make a point of seeing their fights. They all come across failry well as individuals, even Floyd, although sometimes he can be a bit of a dick.
