I know he still fights, but a prime Morales was my favorite fighter of all-time. Classic moments like going southpaw in the 12th round against Pac, the Barrera trilogies, fighting MAB in a press-conference, representing his hood La Zona Norte. Morales was my favorite fighter of all-time always ready to throw down. Still the only fighter to beat Pacman. I wish he was not shot and still fighting these young bucks like JuanMa, Gamboa and other foes. Oh well
:think On this forum I think you'll find a lot of people who miss Morales (a prime Morales at least) but I'm a little torn on the issue. Yes I do miss what he brought to the sport, but at the same time there are other fighters I miss as much, de la Hoya and Barrera. At the same time I don't really miss them, they amassed incredible careers and will be remember for their achievements and their wars and schoolings. I try and get myself pumped up about whats coming along rather missing my personal favourites from the past. They've had their time and made their lives, I'm glad for them. Now its time for our present collection of fighters to make theirs.
Prime Morales was possibly my favourite fighter of that era. He had everything. Great right hand, good jab and in his peak he had a cast iron chin. Morales' bad attributes actually endeared him to fans.. the man could outbox an opponent but would often be drawn into a brawl playing into his opponents hands.. nightmare for the trainer.. great for the fans.
I still love Morales... Although we'll never see that prime El Terrible again, its still awesome to go back and relive all the great fights he gave us... Maybe he actually shows up in great shape and with a good head on his shoulders vs. Marquez and we get a classic war befitting of both these guys.
