I got a little worried before the round started when Sergio was breathing heavily. It would have been easier for him to coast like he is riding a bike because that's just pure stamina but to move and continue to punch hard wears you out even more and leaves you vulnerable to not only be tagged but to be severely hurt because you don't have the same energy to absorb those punches. Your mind can also be less sharp to see the punches coming.

Coast the last round next time when you are that ahead. It's only one round. But he did give the fans their money's worth for the full 12 rounds.


Respect for Chavez though for continuing on and almost pulling it off.
He saved face with that last round.

I didn't like the sound of it when Sergio's trainer was saying to him Chavez was on his way out just before the start of the 11th and that he should go for the KO, he was schooling him just fine with the jab.

 

My legs were shaking. I had such a rush. I was screaming maravilla just hold why arent you holding!! I even punched a wall i was so mad lol. What a warrior. The fact that he did not hold and tried to trade back shows how much balls he really had. Chavez shoulda went balls out those last 20 seconds i know his daddy would have. So frustrating even tho i was rooting for maravilla

****en amazing fight, Martinez was beyond my expectations and Chavez was an unstoppable truck. I nearly fell off my chair when Martinez went down and that last minute felt like an hour. I haven't been that nervous and I haven't been so happy to see someone win. Gramps truly schooled the child.

 

I screamed the whole time for Maravilla to hold him, but like a ****ing OG he stood there, trading punches.

I think around round 8 or 9 when I thought what if this went the distance? Martinez was winning 9-0 on my card and Julio Cesar Chavez was looking for a way out or point deductions/dq or anything when complaining about punches to the back of the head, below the belt (when they were border line) and even played up on the head clash when it was Sergio who came off worse.

It was when the Referee intervened for some reason I noticed Weeks haircut being similar to Meldrick Taylor's and of course that reminded me of the 12th round stoppage from the Chavez sr fight and I spent the latter rounds convincing myself it wouldnt happen . . . . so when Martinez's leg buckled and he fell into the ropes my heart completely sank to which point I was roaring for Martinez to clinch or something but he kept firing back despite being stunned obviously until the final bell.
