I believe he IS inked. I could be mistaken (probably am) but I believe Jacobs was the consolation prize after GBP missed out on Korobov.
I'm not even the booradley of Booradley! So then I need an overly aggressive grumpy old coot to be the Hermit of Danny Jacobs.
I will have to view this fight to see what you are referring to but I noticed a few things before from previous fights that led me to believe that he is another car crash waiting to happen. Alot of these guys get in there with soft opposition on the up which is good but there is soft and then there is SOFT. For his skill level and ability they need to match him better because he is going to get into too much of a comfort zone and when he meets someone who can bang then what is going to happen. They need to put him in with a banger and see how he handles a dangerous opponent instead of putting him in with taxi drivers and security guards.
:bbb:bbb:bbbYou talkin' about my 2 best ESBuddies there!:bbb:bbb:bbb But, I see the Humor in that. LOL.
Right he and Quillin (as well as Jacobs) are all from the NY area. Quillin and Jacobs are for Brooklyn where as Joe Greene is from Jamaica Queens (a friend of mine lived a few blocks from him). They're all deeply entrenched in NYC and either one can bring a decent house to MSG. They really DO need to fight one another because it's getting to the point where there might not be room for all 3 of them. I think Jacobs is the best followed closely by Quillin and then Greene dragging up the rear. Interestingly enough I think Greene has the most potential.
Mike Walker isn't a joke. He's as close to a tank as it gets. He took BIG shots and walked through them and he's a very very tough game opponent especially when you fight him on 9 DAYS rest. As per taking on a banger, the time will come for that. The time isn't now, especially when he's only a year and a half into his career.
You won't get any of that until people start posting things like "Danny Jacobs is an alcoholic, one dimensional, over-hyped, over rated, redneck, one trick pony, who is scared shitless of a German club fighter, and would lose to any fighter with skills." That is generally the **** that brings out the best in me and Hermit:yep
Thats the same thing that people said about Ortiz and looked what happened to him. He hasn't fought anybody yet and Mike Watever his name is was a good opponent but Jacobs took the fight as a stand in and still dealt with him so he cant be that stiff of an opponent to take the fight on such short notice and handle him still. He needs to move slow and fighter a bit better level of opposition instead of taxi drivers coz when the going gets rough will he get going ?
Or to flip the coin, Jacobs could just be that good? And I still don't know what Ortiz was. Everytime I said he was American, somebody would tell me he's mexican. Every time I thought he was Mexican, Somebody would say he's American.
well I think after the other night alot of mexicans will tell you he's an American Ortiz in my opinion is a classic case of a guy who was given the centre stage but failed to deliver when it counted. I think if he did not gesture to the referee in the 6th and then kept his post fight interview short and brief we wouldn't give him so much stick over packing it in With regards to Jacobs he is a good fighter but seriously he has not fought no one yet, no one who is capable of taking him into the trenches and he does not need to move fast but I guess when you receive alot of hype people automatically want to place you up there as some type of top contender and it adds unecessary pressure to the fighter and he then gets rushed along to quickly. Ortiz just blew it, he could of won but he blew it, nobody to blame but himself.
Well as I said sir, He's only a year and a half into his career. He's got a long way to go and yes, we haven't seen him in the trenches (although he had a tough guy in Walker and didn't give in). I'm a little different in a sense that I've followed him since his days in the Amateurs so I've kind of grown up with him. It's not that he's ready NOW for anything...but skill wise there's a very very good set of traits to work with. If I was Manny Steward or Nasiim Richardson, I'd be really interested in working with this kid. As per the best prospect in America? High praise. Not sure if I'd follow that far yet but he's up there. I still think Demetrius Andrade will turn some heads once the wheels get going there. Deontay Wilder is out there as well.
