I like those other prospects you mentioned but with prospects I try to hold back on the praise until they get to the point where they are no longer fighting guys with loosing records. That is why as much as people like to criticise Gamboa he has fought stiffer competition and just blown them out the water but then at least we see all his flaws now instead of saying he was hyped after he looses. I dont see him loosing anytime soon despite all his flaws.

I agree with the TS i like jacobs..he is so effortless in there but he seems to be almost too lax and carries his chin high...he has great speed and reflexes but i like andrade better as a top MW prospect

Andrade is very good as well. I wonder if Andrade and Jacobs have ever crossed paths in the Ams...for the life of me I can't remember.

Isn't Andrade about 10 lbs bigger than Frankie Figueroa? I mean Figueroa is LWW.

I'll make a couple of assumptions, and then ask a question.

Let's assume Jacobs is ready to take a good step up,
and let's assume that part of that step up includes a
6 week camp preparing for a specific opponent.

Who's the best MW Jacob's is ready to beat?

    McKart?
    Joval?
    Ornelas?
    Rubio?
    Zuniga?

He's really NOT ready for a step up like that so I don't necessarily see what you're assuming. That said of course if we're playing hypos:

I think he'd be ready to beat Joval,Ornelas and the faded Bronco McKart. Rubio and Zuniga are tough ones...mainly because Zuniga is something he hasn't faced before (a crude slugger with tons of power to spare but not much else).

Rubio is a bigger step up than I'd anticipate him taking...and I wouldn't take it unless HBO would take the fight.

I think Jacobs needs to step up, but not to much at once. I think it can actually be harmful to keep putting these young guys in with fighters they beat without working hard. Of course, I agree Walker was a good opponent; dude was not takin' no for an answer! Joval would be a good choice in the near future. Nice FNF main event.

    Joval is retired.

He's driving buses in Netherland now.

I didn't know that. I just looked at Box Rec and Joval is 40 freaking years old. Didn't know that either. I also did not realize that Abraham made a title defense with Shannon Taylor ONE FIGHT after Taylor lost to Joval:patsch

Well I hear ya. I tried to map up his career a bit if I was advisiing and scheduling his fights (would love to hear yer feedback) on it.

I think that a steady progression is important.

I like Jacobs/McKart if Bronco would take the fight. Southpaw, nice high guard, tons of experience, tough, but seriously faded and never was a puncher. Good learning experience.

I wouldn't mind seeing Jacobs have a go at LuJaun Simon. I do have ulterior motives, but I think Jacobs would just counterpunch the **** out of Simon.

Since losing to Williams, Andy Kolle stopped Bonsante and some other can. That's another good choice.

These might seem like random choices, but they are all guys with recognizable names.

Quillin/Jacobs ain't happenin'! Two undefeated propsect won't fight. Besides, Danny Jacobs would eat Quillin!

:lol: Indeed you do. I think Elvin Ayala is a much better challenge though if I may say so myself.

Normally the easy option is to go for Matt Vanda (aka MR. Gatekeeper) but he may be above a Vanda-type opponent already.

Another option that might make sense? Yori Boy Campas. If the goal is to ultimately test out Danny Jacobs' chin, there's no better opponent than the faded but still strong Campas. The man STILL has a punch and can still bring it even at 92 years old. A good solid test of Jacobs' chin and mettle under fire.

Ayala is slicker than Simon, but Simon is bigger and stronger. 6 on one side/half-a-dozen on the other. I'd be happy with either.

I've mentioned before that there is a certain amount of danger in putting your prospect in with Camps, or even McKart, type fighters. These old farts have seen everything, and in spite of being way past it, they do know how to win fights. Suppose your prospect loses to hundred year old Yori Boy, or shot to **** McKart, then what the hell do you do??? Still, all in all, I think either is a good choice.

To tell the truth man, You just need to test em at that point. If Jacobs can't handle the skills of a FADED Campas, I think I'll learn all I need to know about him. Either I need to get my hands on a really good trainer but I need to be ready to find the next guy

If he gets KO'd by Campas, I can at least rest well knowing that not many people have the explosive power Yori has.
