Anyone else not rate Spence highly?

Spence stops the canelo that showed up for the first ggg fight. You know, the fight he gassed in 6 and ggg had to carry him in. Lol

 

Only if Spence can cut the ring off as well as Golovkin and then throw enough, a more likely out come is that Spence can't get into the positions Golovkin did and his is work rate cut is half because he can't get in position to throw and loses a clear UD as he gets countered again and again by Canelo.

Canelo is far from a perfect fighter he has clear weaknesses to movers like Lara, Trout etc, but Spence fights nothing like them he would play into Canelo's counter punching style and get lit up on the way it. Canelo might even KO Spence, we've seen him rattled before and Canelo would have a big weight advantage.

 

I wouldn't say I don't rate him highly, he is obviously a real talent, but to date he is being overranked based on what he has actually accomplished. I don't see anything on his resume that warrants him being in the pound for pound lists. Yeah he looks good, yeah he scores exciting KOs, but his accomplishments as opposed to his eye test are rather slim compared to the others on that list. I think he will probably beat Mikey just by being too big and too powerful, but would like to see him in with Crawford, Porter, Thurman or Garcia. OK Thurman has been inactive lately and if the other week is anything to go by may have lost his edge, but he'd still be the best name on Spence's record besides possibly Brook. All of those guys are proper championship level welterweights.

 

Canelo wouldn’t do s h I t to Spence. It would prob go similar to hagler vs Duran. With Spence a little more versitile then haggler, a little better boxer. Canelo without Duran’s power or boxing ability but just bigger. Spence would walk him down and stop him late.
Mikey has a better chance then canelo. He has far more skill from a technical aspect.

Me. I won't be surprised if Garcia nicks a decision here. He's a better boxer IMO Though size matters... Spence will probably be close to 160 in the ring against a guy who not long ago was weighing in for fight's at 130/35...

I think Spence is a bit overrated. Good athletic pressure fighter but for a guy with 24 fights & one title to his name he's way over played IMO

 

I kind of get what you mean OP, there's nothing about what Spence does that catches your eyes or that stands out. He does go to the body more than your average fighter so that's something...Nevertheless he is definitely very effective with what he does and has power.

 

But if he cant stop a sluggish, small, no pop Mikey I dont see him stopping TC. For all that hype of Spences body work it was a non factor in the Mikey fight.

I don't like the guy but I think that he is an excellent fighter who could become a multi weight world champion and a top P4P guy. Spence and Crawford would be a great fight I think that Crawford has more skill but at welterweight Spence has a strength and size advantage over everyone. I think can be hurt by a good puncher so I would not count Thurman out against him. Spence would badly beat up Porter and old Pac which I don't care to see. If Spence can clean out the welterweight division I would love to see him move up and challenge Canelo.
