So he beat some European hypejob by technical decision? Big whoop. I'm gonna say Green puts him in trouble, since he doesn't have any power to keep him away and Green's capable of fighting smart when he wants to. ... Don't bump this if I'm wrong.
I have a sneaking suspicion that Green is going to upset Ward too. Green seems confident and ready. And I'm not completely sold on Ward. He fought a dogfight against Kessler who looked lost. But it was an awful lot of Hopkin-esque tactics with hitting holding and clinching/mauling.
Ward has amateur pedigree and his professional record is shaping up well. He looks to be versatile, is still young and he's been keeping pretty busy over the past year or two, earning a couple of good wins in the process. I can see why people might be sold on him already. That said, Boxing fans do have a tendency to jump on the bandwagon of "the next big thing" quite quickly, only to see the wheels come off just as quickly. I am not entirely sold on Ward but he hasn't let himself or anyone down so far. If and when Ward beats Green and Dirrell, it will be hard for anyone (other than people that just have a problem with the guy) not to give him credit he deserves.
Kessler is a little better than a hypejob... But I agree, if Ward beats Green though i will be sold, not a case of Green being a tough opponent just a case of him providing different problems to people Ward has fought so far.
Ward will beat him impressively and some of yall will change their mind after the fight. Green said Ward is still green...green turned brown a while ago and he gonna take a wake-up beating inside the ring.
It's crazy how as it comes closer to the fight people get taken over by the hype of the situation. Come on, Green is average at best with a punchers chance. But Ward is elite. He has all the skills to be the next big thing in boxing. This will not be 'easy', no fight is. But i think he will control the fight in style. But if your not sold on him yet, after whipping a now 3 time super middleweight champion, then your not going to be sold on him after he beats Allan Green; who i don't think has won a belt yet nor beaten a top level contender. In fact the only notable name on his record is Miranda and we all know what happened in that fight.
He's put together two impressive displays against Miranda and Kessler. He's not a life-taker when he punches, but he hits and hurts. Good movement, solid skills, great technical form, can box and brawl. Green's never been anything special if he can't knock the other guy out quick. He will give Ward some trouble, particularly with the uppercut. Ward's really good. If he beats Dirrell too, then I think he's likely to be a future elite of the sport.
I haven't been able to even catch the Ward-Kessler fight since i've been deployed so i'm even worse off.I've heard people complaining about constant holding and headbutting but i can't make a call yet.
Well I've seen Ward a few times and I think he's the business - I really do. I see a superfight between he and Dawson coming around in a couple of years. He's quick, athletic, moves well, counters sharply and has all the tools. He keeps opponents at bay with a good jab up and down plus he can switch hit. He'll be near the top of the pound for pound list before he's done. He'll beat the **** out of Green and you're dreaming if you think otherwise. The Olympic Gold didn't come by accident and this ain't ****in Audley Harrison we're talking about. He wins the Super Six and the only guy to give him trouble will be Dirrell. You're also lucky if he's lost ten full rounds in his career!
