Ward looked good against kessler, despite awful roughhouse tactics. If he beats Green in a convincing fashion, I'll start to think the guy's the goods.
Neither Green, Dirrell nor Abraham should have their chances against Ward discounted. These are all tough fights for him. Green's record belies the extent of the threat he poses. His power we know about but I think there's perhaps a lot we don't know about Green. He's like the favoured race horse that stumbled getting out of the stalls and lost ground as a result. Can he gain back the ground he's lost? It's a question that makes the Ward/Green bout all the more intriguing. Dirrell is the fighter I am least sold on. He shows aspects of his potential but, at the same time, leaves unanswered questions. Despite showing moments of brilliance, his low output against Froch lost him the fight there. His dominating 10 rounds against Abraham could have been suddenly written off in a bout that might have ended so differently in the 11th, as Abraham's persistence seemed to be beginning to pay-off. I'd like to think of these episodes as Dirrell's own stumbling out of the stalls and, if so, he presents a massive challenge to Ward. I have, from the outset, considered Abraham to be the Darkhorse of the Super-Six. He is probably the toughest guy in the tournament with the most frustrating of styles and the ability to surprise with his sudden bursts of attack, which carry some heavy fire power. The only thing that stops Abraham being a threat is the bell sounding for the end of the 12th round. A durable and dogged warrior as he is will always be a hard nights work. If Ward beats all three of these guys then everyone's going to be buying.
Nice Post! I'm just going on what I see. All of these guys are good fighters but I think Ward is a head above them in terms of versatitlity. His amateur pedigree leads me to believe that he will rise to the occasion. We'll see Saturday!
ward's grown to be the favorite in the current super six tourney but let's see how he fares on his next fight..
Kessler is just a European hype job. Not even "A" European hype job but even further down the ladder as "some" European hype job. He was then a former champ, the current champ and the future champ and was favored to win the whole tournament. What the **** is wrong with you? Ward completely outclassed his ass, and you want to downplay it by starting with Kessler being some easy guy to outclass. No. Stop.
Ward is a fine fine fighter and the rightful favorite ATM to win the whole tourney (of course all favorites lost so far). He just doesn't seem to have the charisma of Dirrell for example and his dirty domination of Kessler didn't make him a fan favorite despite the media fanfare. Being assosiated with Victor Conte without clearing the situation in front of the public didn't help his case either, but IMO he'll put on a masterclass vs. Green to open the eyes who still don't see the level he's fighting on (A+). One thing is for sure, most will root for Dirrell when they'll meet, and if he comes out with the win there as well, nobody will stop him in the Super Six.
A lot of posters are mentioning Wards future fights with "Dirrel and Abraham" - is it just overwhelmingly likely that AA fights Ward in the Semis? Isn't it very possible that won't even happen? Let's assume Ward beats Green, just for conversation sake, but assume Froch/AA Could go either way. Let's analyze possible scenerios. Is it just plainly the case we're gonna have AA vs. Ward? If so, I'm missing it.
Dirrell has zero charisma. He's obnoxious. Ward's charming and low-key. People are going to root for the come forward, smart fighting Ward.
