Some people just don't like seeing their fellow Brits do well it seems. It's not even up for debate if he's good or not, he's proven himself as a world class top fighter.

If he fights benavidez and beats him id be convinced that hes the best in the division.
Up until the groves fight he was seen as just having massive potential and for me he needs to beat someone else on grove’s level yet.

I’m Irish by the way but for me his success is mostly due to his freakish physical attributes and advantages. Very little to do with being a great boxer IMO.

So do you think he shouldn’t use his advantages?

I’d like to see him unify then step up and blast Kovalev out.

Still not really been tested in a boxing ring or taken into deep waters so hard to judge what he's made of. So far he is successfully weight bullying the SMW division but marque fights against the like of Kovalev or Bivol will show us what Callum is really made of and if he is hiding jelly in those legs.

A fight v Bivol will confirm all we need to know one way or another

He maximises his physical attributes and does the basics extremely well. Throws every punch with good technique, good body puncher, decent power, underrated timing and a decent jab when he commits to it. He doesn't look like a special fighter, but when you do the basics well you can go very far, just look at guys like Badou Jack. I think Smith is a good boxer and to be honest I'd pick him over every SMW right now. People talk about David Benavidez but to me he's proven little, he went life and death with Gavril who in reality isn't a top 10 contender and beat Porky Medina, he's done nothing of note and is defensively flawed. He would beat the Dirrell vs Yildirm winner and I'd pick him over Plant and Ramirez (who's also underrated).

Strangely enough I don't agree that he does in fact make optimal use of them. I mean height and reach. If he did he would be well high invincible.

Now now, that's not fair to the big lug. He boxed passably well against Grover, didn't he. But mostly you're right ....he has been underwhelming in a lot of his fights, yes.

I don't either. Degale is a shell of himself and having been beaten so convincingly by Groves, CEJ shouldn't be able to talk his way into another title fight just because he beat a shell and the holder happens to be a fellow Brit.

Personally I think around the time he was matched against Froch
Unfortunately that was the wrong opponent at the wrong time and went on to damage him
