he didn't clinch because his legs were gone he clinched to offset margos rhythm, he didn't let margo get started.

hopkins done the same against pavlik.

This is def a bit of a let down as is Pac-Clottey compared to what was expected but I still think this is a good fight. I'm looking forward to see how it goes down.

Im sure Hopkins worked with him going into that fight. Shane was doing things I'd simply never seen him do, and Ive been following his career since the beginning. He had strategy A B and C for that fight, and he negated all of Margaritos strengths.

Shane is no prime but he is the bigger man with speed, makes up for it I suppose. Besides its very hard to find a fellow HOF at their absolute peak to fight, Shane is champ and p4p so thats good enough.

Actually, I am pretty damn excited about this one. A lot more excited than I am for the Pacquiao-Clottey fight. You have the #2 and #3 welterweights and the #2 and #3 pound for pound fighters in the world, fighting each other. That's not exciting? Maybe it's a little less exciting than the idea of Pacquiao vs. Mayweather, but I think the fight itself just might be even better.
I think Mosley, even at this point in his career, can still cause some trouble for Mayweather. However, I do think that Mayweather will prevail in this bout by decision and probably by a decent margin. Like a 116-112 or something. I for one, hope Shane Mosley wins this fight. I do respect Floyd Mayweather for stepping up and taking this fight. Even though the fight hasn't been officially announced, I really do believe that it will happen. It's the best money option for Mayweather, second of course to the Pacquiao fight that didn't get made. Also, it could be possible that Mayweather thinks this is the best time to fight Mosley. He is 38 years old and will have been inactive for over a year by fight time. Either way, it's a fight that I would love to see. I hope it gets made. Shane has already agreed to the olympic style drug testing, so that's a good start.

his opponents of late have made him look fresher? lol... who is that?
    Cotto? Collazo? Margarito?

lol... ya, only the then number one welter, a mid level welter, and then another number one welter??? :-(

yes... Cotto (#1 welter at the time), Mayorga, Collazo (top 10 welter at the time, and has NEVER made anybody look good or has been an easy fight for anybody, except shane) and Margarito (number 1 welter at the time).... all there to make him look fresh (barring his fustrations with mayorga, in who he wound up knocking out)

I cant believe im reading this stuff to be honest lol....

I'm sick of people trying to discredit Shane's win over Margo. Loaded gloves or not, Shane did to Margarito what no one has or could. Even if Margarito's gloves had been loaded there wouldn't have been any difference, because he never landed any solid punches in the first place. Margarito gave everyone he ever fought hell, and Shane demolished him. He took every rounds and knocked him out, something no one else could do. Shane looked great in that fight, and it's not just because Margarito was "tailor made" for him, it was because Mosley executed a game plan to perfection. He neutralized Margarito's greatest assets. Chin and work-rate and stamina. He never allowed Margarito to build any momentum or throw more than 70-ish punches around through tactical clinching and jabbing. He broke Margarito down by, instead of focusing entirely on the head, killing his body first. He did everything right in that fight. It was a masterful performance. Shane Mosley shut Margarito down, beat Margarito up and knocked Margarito out in a way no one thought anyone could.

people act like Mosley was struggling all up until the Margarito fight... here has been his fights for the last 3 or so years.

Vargas 2 - Looked great (vargas was completely done as a fighter)
Collazo - Looked great (Collazo is hardly the type of fighter to make anybody look good)
    Cotto - Looked solid
Mayorga - Mayorga fustrated him and gave him a tough fight, subpar outing
    Margarito - Looked Great

I guess i just dont see exactly what people are talking about... if anything Mosley is on an up turn.

He clinched because it was the right tactic. You saw what happened to Cotto when he did nothing but move. All he did was allow Margarito to build up momentum and corner him.

Honestly Kirk... I didn't think that Mosley looked to great in any of those fights barring the Margo fight of course. Even against Margo.... he destroyed him and made it a great fight to watch... but Mosley himself still looked technically deficient... and most of his success was found by simply standing still as Margo stood still in front of him as well, and Mosley just got his faster punches off first. Do you honestly think there is any chance in hell that Mosley is going to be able to load up with everything he has and just plant his feet all night winging haymakers at Mayweather and find any success? Of course not. Sometimes Mosley even found success against Margo by simply cocking his right hand back and running at Margo with his left hand extended lining up a punch as you would in a bar fight. Although he put a serious ass whoopin' on Margo, it showed me nothing to think that he would find success against Floyd.

Like I said, of course... this is boxing and anything can happen. Of course Shane could land a huge punch and make things interesting... but that's not the likely outcome. Especially considering the fact that we are yet another entire year removed from his performance against Margo. It seems like Shane only carries power in his punches if he loads up and throws one at a time. His flurries have no steam on them at all.

Hopefully I am wrong and Shane turns up in great shape and is able to bounce on his feet, force Floyd to make mistakes, and throw enough effective punches to make a great fight out of it. However, I just see Floyd moving, Shane following, Mosley pitter pattering with the jab, and loading up the one big shot over and over, as Mayweather counterpunches just enough to stay up clearly on the scorecards.

Once again... I am not knocking either guy for making this fight. With Pac out of the picture this is the biggest fight that could have been made. I am just talking about my general expectations for the fight itself.

Fair enough bud, we all have our own takes... i am def excited though, just because like i said i see this as a better fight then almost any other fight mayweather has taken, and out of everything considered, in my eyes at least this is the second or third best fight that could be made... period, from 140-154 (May/Pac and Mosley/pac being the other two)

All in all, its got me hyped.... though most of what you say i can agree with (like shane not having enough to handle floyd at this point) but its still got enough zing in it to make me excited. Just IMO.

The thing is though, when Mayweather beats Mosley.... i think it will only enhance a Pac/May fight, considering Mosley had always seemed like the odd man out of those three.

    Pac/Clottey
    Mayweather/Mosley

with the winners fighting eachother.... would go a long way to fixing the mess that came with may/pac falling through, and does to me add some excitement. I think of this as a mini tourny i suppose lol.

anyways thats just my take, i can see where your coming from.
