Squared up stances, terrible defense and inability to counter.

They have that stance because they have to watch out for more than punches. They have to watch out for kicks, grabs, and weird kung fu ****.

Exactly. The OP is an imbecile. Try a traditional boxing stance in mma and watch your lead leg get destroyed by a front leg kick.

its not just that though, the fact that boxing fans talk about the Loses that many MMA fighters have and use that as an excuse to berate them. They forget they defend against punches from Way more angles than in boxing, Kicks exactly the same and on top of that Varieties of Submissions and chokes. You need to be a lot more savvy in MMA and stance is a small part of a bigger picture.

The stance needs to be different because of the kicks, just look at muay thai which deals with kicks and grappling. But compared to muay thai mma fighters have ****ty looking striking technique. Bad countering, bad head movement, inaccurate punches, inability to put proper combinations together. Don't compare them to straight boxers though. Try comparing them to muay thai fighters or western kickboxers.

But one thing you can't really knock them for is their wrestling. They've had former Olympic level wrestlers pass through their sport, and guys who've competed at the world class level in jiu jitsu. According to the rules of their sport, grappling and wrestling is more important than striking; so it shouldn't be too surprising if their wrestling is better than their boxing.

Floyd could certainly lose in MMA, but he wouldn't be a bum. Waayy to many MMA fights are stand up only for anyone to think a world class boxing would be totally out of his element.

I don't expect quality striking out of mma fighters like I expect from boxers or kickboxers. But what always bothers me when I see it is the bad wrestling technique. I can't stand it when two fighters go to the ground, one covers up, and the one who's mounted on top can't do anything, then they just stay that way until the clock runs out and they get stood up again.

1000% Floyd would be completely out of his element and indeed a bum in MMA .

Someone like 5ft6 Chad Mendes a wrestler/power puncher (Yet a Questionable chin I have to admit )

Would easily overpower Floyd to the ground with a takedown and wreck him with ground and pound .

I believe it would only take 1 flush punch as well , Mendes is a midget with bombs in both of his gloves .

    Spot on.

Floyd isn't even a puncher by Boxing standards and has a style with a VERY LOW output and it's based on being defensive.

Bad move to have that in MMA. He would not last a round.
