This proves how bad DLH painted himself into a corner. An easy KO or a dominant UD and he will be ridiculed for easy pickings. A close fight and he will be crucified.
Guys, I really think the speed of Pac will be a factor if it is a blowout, or a very surprisingly competitive fight. If Pac somehow retains his speed with that weight, and can weave and get in and out enough, he can cause fits to DLH. Also, what if Pac's power is even more powerful in this weight? I didn't like the way DLH fought against Forbes. Some said DLH showed improvements in that fight against speedy guys, but I wasn't impressed.
Good post. Reason why I'm so angry over this. If Pac declines over this I will be loosing a fav fighter. This angers me more than the idea of Hoya doing something without integrity. The thing is the fight will be explosive and for that reason not go the distance. Hoya will take Pac out early and if he carries him Pac will take a lot of punishment and this is probably worse for Pac's future. Maybe Pac will enter the ring a better boxer than any of us have seen but I see him leaping in with that left hand in desperate attempts to land something hard and being jabbed for his troubles. I've seen Manny against the ropes against both Barrera and Marquez recently. When was the last time anyone took Hoya against the ropes? Vargas, but Vargas literally tried to drag him there.
There's no way at least IMO that Pac will retain his speed and gain more power at 147. I don't see it happening. If anything he'll become a slower more powerful fighter with the added weight which doesn't exactly suit him very well. We also need to consider that Oscar has taken big punches from guys like Tito, Mosley, Vargas and Mayorga. There's no ammount of power Pac can generate that could equal what those guys brought at 147-154. Pac needs to turn this into a speed game to have a minimal shot.
I agree, speed is his only chance. Pac will not KO DLH for sure, but could pac somehow Michael Spinx him? That's what I am trying to figure out could happen.
:good I personally wouldnt mind if as soon as the bell rang roach threw the towel to get this farce over with so everybody can go home healthy with their money. I could see if Pac had a remote chance, hell Pac doesnt even have a punchers chance.
He would need to be a better boxer than hoya to pull this off. He isnt a better boxer nor more skilled
This whole thing with DLH wanting to fight Pacquiao with so many other viable options available for him, smells like a rat........ For Freddy Roach to come out public and make the comments he did about being so confident that Pacquiao can beat DLH, just does'nt smell right to me...... Honestly, I feel there's a good chance that this fight will be fixed, much like DLH's fight with Hopkins.......the only difference is that DLH's legacy will suffer immensely if he loses this fight. The way I see it, I believe DLH is going to carry Manny Pacquiao, so that it does'nt look like the complete mismatch this fight should be. DLH imo will clearly outbox Manny Pacquiao without totally anhillating him. If you really think about it, it would embarass DLH more to completely destroy the much smaller Pacquiao, than to make it look like Pacquiao belonged in the same ring with DLH and justify the fight. I smell a rat, and the casual fans are the ones who are going to fall for it hook, line and sinker......as DLH salivates in glee to the pleasure of the dry hump!:!:
Dont worry, its unlikely Pac will die. In fact, I think DLH hits too hard for this fight to have any long lasting damage either - fighters get damaged taking prolonged beatings but I dont see Pac capable of taking such a prolonged beating from such a bigger man, I think DLH takes him out in 6-9 rds but starts very slow so Pac doesnt take too much damage in the 1st 2 or 3 rds, just enough to fear the power & become less offensive himself which is foreign to Manny Pac & will become a huge advantage to Oscar. DLH TKO8 Pacquiao
I am wondering why would Pac then take this fight, and put his fans through this? But, I'm beginning to think Pac really thinks he can win this fight, and that's why he took it. I'm going to buy it, because I am curious to see what Pac will do. I told my self I wouldn't buy it, but I have changed my mind drastically.
Today when I was at work thinking about this fight I thought that Roach and Manny must be watching the first Mosley/Hoya tape over and over cuz that is what Manny will have to do. But Mosley's foot work is quicker and he was coming forward and is a bit bigger than Pac. But the Mosley fight is the only blueprint I can see Manny using in this fight in order to win. Not great overall boxing skills but quick bombs and footwork to get him in an out of range.
I think Pac just puts all his trust in Roach. Pac was very careful at the beginning of this charade to say anything that might suggest his win by knockout that Roach promised. Even now Pac is careful, with his weight stipulations going up to the one million per extra pound (the last I heard he was asking for).
It doesn't help that Freddie Roach is filling Pac up on the idea that he could beat Oscar. Pac has a lot of heart and probably DOES think he could beat Oscar, coupled with Roach's encouragement. I won't be ordering it so my hopes lie in Sopcast or a local bar.
Isn't it strange that we have yet to see Pac's opinion on this? All we see on the articles is Arum saying this, Roach saying that, Wakee saying this. Yet not a word from Pacquiao himself. Strange. :think
