As opposed to paying inordinate amounts of money to get tickets to the events? Admittedly, I've never really been to a fight which I or any other reasonable mind would consider great or competitive, but from my experiences, which are minimal, I haven't enjoyed myself to a large degree. I attribute this mindset in part to the crowds. I've had to endure drunken ramblings throughout entire main events from those who were sitting directly behind me, and there has been some physical altercations also. Not involving me, but I've witnessed it happen. Now for those who had tickets to Marco Antonio Barrera vs Erik Morales, Manny Pacquiao vs Juan Manuel Marquez, or any other memorable fight fresh in the memory, I don't expect you to know what I'm talking about. For everyone else, I'd be nice to hear your views on the topic. Let's hear it.
haven't been to a live fight... so i cant comment on that... but i do enjoy watching the fights at home because of the different angles that are shown... i would assume that your view is limited when you are at ringside... maybe when the floyd/pac fight can be made, that'll be my first live fight i would want to go watch... :good
Not that we get many chances to see fights - But I would rather watch boxing at home for $ than go to a club and watch it for free.
I've never been to a fight live. Actually missed seeing Valero here in town vs Pitalua because I had my head up my ass that week. But I can't imagine dropping big money for a Vegas fight. Maybe its the experience, don't know. But what if I spent all that money, went to take a leak because of the beer, and got back after a ko. I'd be pissed. :?
I like watching at home but only with a big group of friends. The bars are fun too but you really can't hear what the announcers are saying. BTW, if Floyd-Pac gets made, I'm there live. :good
I'm always surprised by the amount of posters who constantly tell me the same thing. That they like to watch Boxing with their friends, and have a big 'ol party about it. I'm different, I like to be by myself with a black coffee, and enjoy the moments in solitude. ...If only because none of my friends like Boxing.
Funny story. My dad and his mates went to see Pat Cowdell fight Azumah Nelson way back when and just before the fight started, one of my father's mates went to go get the beers. If you've not seen the fight it's actually uploaded on youtube, but it ends in a first round knockout, and my dad's mate of course missed everything. He's never went to a fight since, but I think it was bloody stupid to go get a beer before the fight started.
Well, you know how I feel and I feel the same way about all sports. The crowds detract more for me than they add with the atmosphere. I'm not wired to need the buzz that a lot of people get from the big crowds and not much is more annoying to me then the stuff you mentioned. Drunken ****wits fighting and bitching and running each other down and the fighters and distracting me and pissing me off with their crap comments, vomiting out of their fat drunken mouths...okay, I'll stop.
If I can't get semi close seats, why the **** bother? For the Money you spend on a few nose bleed tickets, you can get a large screen HD television. So while you can't see Larry Merchant sucking down scotch in between comments on the television, you are making a much wiser investment.
Live is great. Home is good At the movie theater is awkward. I saw the May/Mosley fight at the local box office. When I jumped and shouted , someone shushed me. DURING A FIGHT!!!!!!!
100% I'd rather watch the fight at home. Preferably alone with no distractions. I order PPV's and scream and yell all by myself getting drunk. Absolutely my favorite way to watch a fight. If I miss anything I'm beyond pissed. Can't see a ****ing thing at these live cards. It's a bad joke, and I'm not ready to shell out $2,000 for one event at this point. **** no.
I used to think like that, but once you start watching them live, its very addictive, nothing beats the feeling. The whole atmosphere is just phenomenon. But not for too much money though.
