Most of the fights I've been to were non-TV affairs. Cans, proto-"prospects", etc. It's nice once in a while to see local talent trying to roughhouse their way to the big time (mostly in vain). They try harder than the one-night-millionaires. The only TV fights I've attended were The Contender 168lb finale between Bika and Codrington, and Reynaldo Lopez's upset KO victory over then-heralded Mike Oliver. The latter was actually the more satisfying experience despite being the lower-profile event and at a much smaller venue. Seeing Mayweather's last two wins in the movie theater made them more exciting than they may have been in my living room, mainly because of the throng of Mayweather fans (and little pockets of Marquez/Mosley supporters) hooting and hollering several times a round. Maybe it was the blended buzz of all the six dollar beers and concession candy consumed during the undercards, I don't know. I'm a bit of a homebody and don't much like going out in general, so even if watching fights at bars or at a friend's house was an option it would probably be declined. A good live event will draw me out, if reasonably good seats can be found. The problem is nothing ever comes around here, even though Boston has a RICH history in the sport.
I'd love to attend a live event showcasing some of the best names in boxing. However, I have not been blessed with that yet, so I have to settle for the house. The bar tends to attract idiots when it comes to combat sports, lol. The ironic thing is that some of the people I invite to my house to watch are completely dumb when it comes to the dynamics of certain matches, lol.
I prefer watch it on tv. But not alone, best with some buddies and a lot of beers:bbb It could be at home, a friends place, or at the pub
Ideally I prefer to watch the events with a good seat. But that takes time and money. Time to actually drive to the event, and money for the ticket. I enjoy watching boxing at home with family and friends.
You also have the benefit of commentary from the t.v. cast, and what's being said from the corner between rounds.
rofl, the way boxing is mate, you can buy the cheapest god damn **** and still end up near the ring. At least thats how it is here in the NYC/Atlantic City area. Now for a mega showdown like a cotto/mosley at madison square, well lets just say you will want to drop the big bucks on a good seat for that one. Nothing like madison square.
Get some ambition in yer life you sad little ****:bbb Get out & travel, see the world, expand yer pea brained mind, step up & try & be a man if yer ever can:hey Every time i watch a fight from Vegas on TV i just howl & grit my teeth & curse the fact I WAS NOT THERE:fire There's two sort's of fight fans & thats the safty first stay at home experts & fight fans that are the doo'ers of this world. **** THE COST!!! SAVE UP!!! GET A 2ND JOB!! FIND A WAY AS THEIR'S ALWAYS A WAY IF YOU WANT IT BAD ENOUGH!! Some of the reasons/EXCUSES for not wanting to see a big fight LIVE (Vegas 4 example) on here are nothing short of pathetic/gutless & spineless, fancy wanting to sit at home with a beer in one hand & yer limp dick in the other, ****in shameful, get yer arse to Vegas you plastic fight fans & stop hanging onto yer mummies apron strings. A part of shakespears HENRY V speech before the battle of Agincourt is apt here. He that shall live this day, and see old age, Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours, And say 'To-morrow is Saint Crispian.' Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars, And say 'These wounds I had on Crispian's day.' Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember, with advantages, What feats he did that day. Then shall our names, Familiar in his mouth as household words- Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red. This story shall the good man teach his son; From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remembered- We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition; And gentlemen in England now-a-bed Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.D
I don't like crowds much. Too much chance of being seated next to someone like the poster above me. Most of the population of this planet have **** for brains - why would I want to be in a crowd of them?
The only fight I've been to was Haye-Ruiz, and I thought it was a brilliant event. It beats watching a fight on my own, although I missed the commentary and RbR theads on here
