Anyone else really impressed with Carl Froch on Saturday? Could he be the man @ 168?

I tend to agree. Pittman and Norman really stunned Pascal...

 

Why after losing to Calzaghe easily, and beating two poor opponents has Kessler suddenly become this all devastating unbeatable Adonis of a fighter. His stock seems to have gone up since losing convincingly to Calzaghe, it doesn't make sense, I thought a fighters stock was supposed to plummet when they get outclassed.

Lets not forget people, that Kessler himself is still in a lot of ways unproven. He beat Andrade, so what, Bute out boxed Andrade as well before getting caught at the end.

Personally I think Kessler will beat Froch but I don't think it's fair just to say oh it shouldn't be discussed because Kessler is in a different league, he is still yet to fully prove himself - his resume is very questionable.

Both Froch, and Kessler have little lateral movement, fight in straight lines, I think it would be a decent scrap. Did Calzaghe put Kessler down? I can't remember.

 

Wait, you can remember that Kessler was 'outclassed' but you can't remember even whether there were any knockdowns?

Perhaps it may be wise to rewatch the fight before posting any more opinions on it...

 

kessler slipped over near the start of the third round.

seriously mate just watch the footage. kessler is too accurate and punishing a puncher for someone as slow and open as froch. his straight punches will break froch down towards a late stoppage or comfortable UD. it will look similar to kessler-andrade.

how do you suggest froch takes this?

 

I've seen the fight twice, a year ago, I'm not in the habit of watching Calzaghe fights a thousand times like you fan boy.

It was a leading question by the way...

 

Kessler's resume, btw, includes wins over the current number 3 and number 4 rated SMWs on the Ring ratings.

Yea, I remember Kessler going down but I couldn't rememberer if it was a total slip or he was slightly caught.

Hey, I think Kessler would win this one but I'm getting tired of hearing him spoken about like he is god, the guy is still ultimately unproven at the highest level.

 

You honestly think overall the second half of the fight was close and competitive? Hey I'm no Calzaghe fan, but Kessler was to a degree outclassed in the latter part of that fight, imo.

Guess what...everybody is unproven in this division smart ass.

Kessler is highly regarded because of his performance level.

 

It was very competitive through 8 rounds, and overall I believe I scored it 116 - 112. Calzaghe took control from the 9th where his greater experience, stamina and variety became apparant. That doesn't constitute an outclassing in my book.

 

Outclassed is perhaps a little strong, but Calzaghe won it pretty convincingly in the end imo.

 

Hey I rate him highly, but it still doesn't change the fact that Calzaghe is the only true top level opponent he has faced, and it wasn't all that competitive, imo - certainly not later on.
