Prime Peter would have walked right through Pulev. While it's highly unlikely, I'm hoping Peter can show up in shape and pull off the upset. I'm not a big fan of Pulevs, and it would be nice to see Peter get one more big win to cap off his career( which was vastly more consequential than Pulevs). As it stands though, I halfway expect Peter to pull out.
Peter had his peak for one night in the first Wlad fight and was never the same afterwards. And that was 11 years ago. I hope he doesn't get badly hurt here.
His best wins came after that: Toneyx2, McCline, and Maskaev were his best wins and probably the best consecutive wins any hw's had for a few years around then besides the K's.
And get another old, past it and undeserving mandatory contender for one of the belts, without any chance of winning? No thank you.
True, but it would be really funny if cherry-picking a far-too-old, shot, ex-champion backfired on Pulev. It won't happen though.
It would be funny if it happened, just like it would be funny if Briggs would have KO'd Haye. I'm not rooting for it though, because it's bad for boxing
I always liked Peter. he was a character. "Who neks", and my favourite line from Samuel was "All of 'em going down, going down"
Hope the guy doesn't get tuned up too much, but I'm not pulling for him to win. Would rather Pulev move forward as he would feature in some good fights.
Me,too! Pulev is still a force to be reckon with in today's heavy weight division. He for sure wouldnt be a huge underdog against the likes of Joshua,Wilder and Parker IMO.Pulev looks lacklustre at times ..........against limited opponents............doesnt go for the kill when it is time to do so.......sometimes.....................and so on.HOWEVER,he is a truly tough nut to crack.Wlad knocked him out but I very much doubt that any other present heavy can do it. A lot of people here tend to overrate youngsters like Parker(I actually like him but he is still green as could be seen in fight against Takam,I am positive that Pulev would have looked better against the same opponent) or hyped ko artists like Wilder(whose fight record is just pathetic and padded with harmless no-hopers) but underestimate an experienced pro and top 10 heavy as well as a highly decorated amateur.
I thought Pulev looked good vs Chisora, a Chisora that was in shape and motivated. I don't rate him as high as people like Haye, Povetkin and possibly Parker, but he's still a force. Peter, not sure why he's coming back. Must need a paycheck.
