Anyone else think Algieri's style would give Marquez problems?

He's long, tall, and doesn't really have that come-forward attitude. He'll circle and throw the jab all night like he did Provo, and we've all seen how Marquez does against fighters who box.

The difference between Marquez and Provo is Marquez knows how to box.

I thought Bradley would beat Marquez, Algieri possibly would too, Marquez struggles with any style that make him become the aggressor.

Does he really though? Or is he just good against one style like Ruslan is? A guy who comes forward banging..

I saw him get boxed up by Bradley and Chris John. Two mover and jabbers like algieri. I don't rule out algieri against marquez's old legs…not any day.

Would certainly give him problems, as would Herrera

The way Algieri ate left hooks from Provodnikov does not bode well in a fight against Marquez.

I'm not overrating this kid, its Marquez who is overrated.

He is Manny's kryptonite that's all, possibliy roided up kryptonite. Marquez has probelms with slick boxers who don't jump head first into his punches always has, he's not great at walking down fighters. Algieri is rangy and slick enough to give Marquez a ton of probelms, it would probably be a boring fight similar to Bradley Marquez.

I believe Ruslan would beat Marquez in spite of the fact that I picked Algieri to win over Provo, Marquez would counter Provo all night but he doesn't have the speed and stamina anymore to keep Provo at bay the entire fight, Provo would eventually get to him and wear him down.

^This. Marquez is a HOF'er with a slew of solid wins on his resume and even at 40 has a ton more game than Provodnikov.

I hate people who overrate everyone on this site it gets very tedious I agree.
I don't believe Algieri is some undefeatable monster he had Provo's number because Provo is one dimensional, he would probably struggle with Matthysse, Garcia, Herrera, someone who actually knows how to think and adjust.

But Marquez, struggled with Alvarado, Pacquiao(yeah I know KO6), and was beaten and dominated by Floyd and Tim. What does that leave us with he UD'd Fedchenko, and Diaz, and KO'd Katsidis and Ramos lately.

Marquez is a HOFamer who struggles everytime he steps up and fights another elite fighter, he's good but not great I've never thought he was great. Ruslan is worthless as a boxer but Marquez has always had chin problems, and he isn't as fast as he used to be Ruslan would knock him down at least once and his constant pressure I think would get to Juan eventually.

So the one-dimentional Provo would be too much for Marquez? OK:lol:

Based on all the highlighted parts(on this post alone) you just come off as a Marquez hater.

Well its obvoius that you must be a Marquez fan, and I'm not, So Sorry about that.

Marquez is a great counter puncher and would tear Provo up at first but Provo has legit power and Marquez has always had a shaky chin, Ruslan legitimately hurt Bradley, Marquez and Pac didn't, he beat Alvarado more convincingly than Marquez and Rios.

Marquez was hurt and badly gassing in the 4th Pac fight, Pacquiao hurt him and had him reeling and Provo I believe has the ability to do the same thing.
Marquez is not as slippery as Algieri and Bradley he'd have a harder time getting away from Ruslan's power than either one of them did, and obviously Provo doesn't mind being punched, so yes I believe Ruslan walk him down and beat or possibly stop Marquez.
